A V-AFC II would make a wonderful difference by allowing you to lean out the top end for some more peak power. V-tec could be switched, and you'll probably get some mid-range gains as well.
vafc is the biggest bang for the buck on our cars.

The gains you are talking about with an AEM EMS are midrange gains, not peak. There is no way you will get a 22rwhp peak gain from an EMS. If we are going to make these kind of statements, let's please include where in the powerband the gains are made.
I never once stated my gains were midrange....
maybe you're confusing my ITB comments...

Hey there king hater, see my sig. I got 22 rwhp PEAK, with HUGE gains midrange, but I didn't pay close enough attention to them, since most of that was attributed to lowering VTEC.

^^^I did
If my car could go up against it's old self, it'd be an asswhoopin' not soon forgotten
My entire powerband benefitted greatly from the EMS...dropping VTEC to 5700 opened up about 20 ponies, which it held all the way to redline. I wish the floppy disc worked, I'd love to post the before and after dyno's. This next time I'm going to take pictures of the dyno screen, as well as a floppy, so I'll defenately have something to show you guys.
2nrwerks dyno place doesn't have a printer, (or at least didn't last time I was there), so an electronic copy is going to have to suffice.

Yea, my best guess is that Honda made sure the fuel maps went way rich in the upper rpms as a safety precaution when they first made this car. The maps slowly leaned out over time as Honda gathered more information on longivity, but as for us poor bastards that have the old cars, they're pretty butt slow when you compare them to any newer years. I figure that since swapping out for an '03 ecu is good for about 10 ponies, the AEM gave me another 12 on top of where that should have been, so now you're looking at the average gains, had my car been a little newer
Half of my tune was just getting me to where I should have been in the first place

My MY06 only gained 2rwhp peak, but ~20rwhp midrange.
