When is the 2.5L going to be up and running?
In all honesty I don't know. When I first ordered it was approx. 4-6 weeks wait for the short block because they need to build the crank, and the crank is full billet so it takes a while. This was about 2 weeks ago that I ordered. Then once that is done it will get shipped to the shop installing it. Car will get towed down there, and probably be there for a couple days. Then it should be done and running. Though it will be running on the stock ECU and I'll probably break it in on the stock ECU. After break in is complete I'll swap in the EMS, get it tuned, and have some fun

Most B-series motors running that kind of power are toting fully built internals. If you took the F-series, built the bottom end up, and raised compression upwards of 12:1, ported the heads, lightened the valvetrain, ITB's, EMS, and the works, you could get the same results.

So far, this has primarily been a bolt-on contest to see if it can be done. A 2.5 stroker gets you there in 1 shot. The trick is getting there with just bolt-ons.
thanks for clearing that up . I had read a few pages of the thread but 150 pages is alot to read!

I'm thinking of having ENDYN build a head and matching set of pistons, with near 13:1 compression. They have always treated my friends and I well with my D-series builds

When all is said and done, how about giving us a ballpark figure if you don't mind...out of morbid curiosity.

Also...what's Inline Pro say your redline should be with that 2.5l motor?
Well pricing is really guestimate and depends on what you want to do while the motor is out.

If you are just doing the 2.5L bottom end and you have a core then the whole swap will probably only cost 6400-6600 depending on labor. And that also includes new injectors and head gasket.

If you are like me and you get a new clutch, new valve springs + retainers, an EMS, new engine + tranny mounts, new battery (my current one is dead), new oil pump, and no core (+500), it ends up being in the 10k ballpark. Not what I was expecting when I started this. Of course the EMS adds a lot of that extra cost that I wasn't expecting, because I wasn't planning on an EMS...but when you are building a motor like this, the last thing you want is to have it blow up, so you spend more money to keep the motor safe. Now, Inline Pro did not pressure me in any way to buy all this stuff. They only said the oil pump...as the motor is being pulled and it is only $250. The rest is really on me.

As far as the new redline...well, I can rev it to 9k or even past 9k. No problem in doing that, the motor and bottom end internals can handle it. But I will probably set my limiter to 8400 or 8500 because the motor stops making power on OEM cams at 8000-8200. It simply is pulling as much air in as the cams will let it...so there is no reason to rev as high. But you can if you want to...or if some cams come out that make power up there.

Wouldn't it be worth it to just get some custom cams made? You're spending ~10k... might as well spend another 1000 and get some cams that will let the engine breath more - all the way to 10k rpms

But man... you could have a serious turbo setup with that cash!

In other news, there has already been a test subject on the "all-Honda" 2.4L stroker in the other thread in the main forum. Someone has installed a K24 crank, H22 rods and pistons in his '01 and has been running it for a while. So for those of you who plan to do stroker in the future (like me ), this could be a very affordable alternative to the inlinepro setup, toda kit, etc.

I saw this thread also. Unfortunately there is a lot of risk in doing this. Unless you go to the same place that guy had it done then every shop you go to is going to be a first timer. doing anything like that to the motor. No telling what they may screw up.
