I hope one of these days I can make a legitimate post about a track event. I'm dying to get out to VIR or Summit Point

NCCAR is closer, and you don't need a rollbar.

^Where is that? Might be closer than Summit Point but doubtful on VIR. VIR is only about 2.5 hours away from me.

And if it is closer why haven't we tried to setup one big s2ki outing there?

North Carolina Center for Automotive Research, between I95 and I85 just past Lake Gaston. Seems like most of the Mid-A s2ki track peeps live up in Nova or MD, so Summit Point is local for them.

Next HPDE there is in November. You're fine.

It's really more of a testing facility than a straight track, but they do have a few spare weekends to fit public driving events into.

Did you have a bad first marriage or something along those lines?
No, I had a good first marriage but the divorce sucked big time.

Back on topic: I got to test the new differential with 4.44 gears and the OS Giken limited slip. Summit was hot and more greasy than I have ever experienced. The new pavement/sealer must still be curing because I had absolutely no grip. I was sliding all over the place. I got out of shape in Turn 10 several times and the push through the infield was unbelievable. With the dyno tuned VAFC's +9 horsepower and the new diff my best lap was a 126.2! That's 4 1/2 seconds slower than my best lap I'm hoping all 4.5 seconds is due to the new track surface but I'm thinking that's a stretch.

The new gearing is just low enough to totally screw Turns 1, 3 and 5. Second gear is now too low for Turns 1 & 5 and now I have to shift into 5th between Turns 1 and 3 then downshift to 4th for Turn 3 to power up the hill from the apex.

The clutch LSD seems to make the car push big time in the infield, I couldn't carry anywhere near full power without pushing the car to the edge of the track.

The power-on transition in Turns 3 and 10 are also much more abrupt with the tail stepping out dramatically. I'm really going to have to learn to get on the power earlier but much more gently. I'll probably have to massage the alignment settings too. I'm already running the Comptech sway bar at the middle position (3 out of 5). I tried position 4 (1 from full stiff) but the infield push was worse.

It'd be nice to try a nice cool day at Summit for a better comparison but that's going to have to wait for Fall.

Ouch, so overall you think the 4.10s and Torsen LSD work better for Main? Any plans to get on Shenandoah with this setup soon? I'd be interested in seeing if your experience with 4.44's is any better there.

4 1/2 seconds! That's miles away. Looks like a big adjustment in driving is needed for your new set up. I kind of waiting for your impressions on clutch LSD because I plan to try in the future. So if it pushes you more, it seems that your inner wheels are biting pretty well instead of just spinning. Awesome info, Rob. Thanks.
