The Official Mid-A A/V Thread
Ah, I guess so... I mean, the TV that was hooked up was just a 20" tube... But I was just trying to switch around in the SD channels...
And while the first of the Sharp D92 series has delivered, I think I'm going to skip Sharp altogether, return the set and go in search of the Pioneer Elite 1140 50" 720p plasma. This whole banding issue with my TV (and every other 46/52" D62) is far too annoying and totally unacceptable on a $3000+ television.

Chris, have you considered the non-Elite model? Elites cannot be purchased via the i'net; the others can.
I watched Cars last night on my Samsung (listed in this thread), using my xbox360 as a player (and I have a Sony HT in-a-box) and it looked (and sounded) fantabulous! All with the convenience of laying in bed
I should watch it downstairs in my main theatre room just to hear it on the good system

SKIP SUGGESTING A NON-ELITE MODEL!?
No, seriously... Why Elite 1140 vs. 5070/1? I just assumed the Elite would be the better pic, with better features and a 2yr vs. 1yr warranty... *shrug*

You've placed limitations on your purchase, that's why. The two yr warranty was one of the things that allowed me to go over my budget. Yes, there are a few nice things about the Elite over the standard model, however, one of them is the b!tchin' stand for the Elite- which you won't be using.
glare is not a terrible issue with my plasma, but as you know, I have recessed lights(uncovered) and navy walls/ceilings. I can tell you now, don't get upset when the ceiling lights up while viewing in the dark.
Personally, I like the higher contrast that plasma affords one. LCD's seem truer to theaters, however, I am so smitten with the sharpness of HD that I don't mind the watching movies at home sharper than what was originally intended.

why wouldn't I be using the stand? Or do you mean wall-mount? Plans are to use it on the stand... The Mrs. does not like the wall-mount idea.
