I would say to invest the cash in Avia or DVE, but don't bother with ISF. The discs will get you close enough and ISF is really only going to show benefits in a true theater setup (controlled lighting, ideal viewing, room setup, etc).
I've used Avia and DVE. I have a new one that's specifically for LCD's that I'm going to try too. It's fairly straight forward.

That used to mean something till Netflix started gouging everyone's share in the market.

Just remember Blockbuster stocked UMD's too. Also if I remember correctly you could get laser disks there too,

With HD-DVD Prices down to ~$200 for the player (with 7 free HD movies), I wouldn't be surprised to see HD gaining more traction.

The media attention makes the general public think that HD-DVD is the loser format already though which doesn't help.

Correct. Netflix still stocks UMDs, but Blockbuster online is outperforming Netflix due to a slightly lower price and the ability to return to the store and receive a free movie rental when you do so.

Who's John? I'm not PopFarts, you've got your asians mixed up!

Best deal I can find right now is from Costco for $249.99 for the player plus 5 Free HD-DVDs. Its for the Toshiba HD-D2 model ( same as the HD-A2, but includes a free HDMI cable).

There was another company offering better but I can't find the link right now.

Thanks for the tip on the Monoprice HDMI 5x1 remote switcher. The price is down to $59. I stocked up on cables too.
