Thanks for the suggestion. I've already ordered the Yamaha, but that sounds like it would have been a good option, too.

Hopefully everything will work as intended with this new setup

So here is my plan...

Marantz SR9600 Receiver, Klipsch speakers and a Mitsu 720p projector and 103" screen.

just going for a single rear surround speaker?
no plans for presence speakers?
how about a rear sub?

And I'm no expert, but is it best to have the fronts set all the way into the corners?

and holy crap - $4200 for that marantz!?

I did talk to them about a second sub, however he suggested to not do it at first and see if I liked the performance. The room they have that is similar to what my plan is sounded perfect.

The good news is I wont be paying $4200 for the receiver! Super secret discount! besides.... THX Ultra2 Certified

What suprised me is the affordability of the screen/projector. I assumed that I would be building around a 50" TV until visiting these guys.

Of course my Brother-in-law had to go down there and buy a hide-away setup just to top me

Ok, so I went ahead and ordered a universal flat wall mount. Total depth is less than 1" when used with the shallow mount and 1.18" with the "deep" mount option. Comes in gloss black. $79.

I'm not just looking for the cheapest option, but this is what Peerless recommended for my 24" studs and 50" plasma. Their suggested retail is ~$200, but mountsandmore had it on super sale for $79/no shipping.

oh, and might as well mention the latest addition to the setup:

Apple Airport Express.
Running it in wired mode, wireless turned off. I've got a network jack right behind the TV/stereo, so now I'm running iTunes through the stereo from another room.

The headphone jack on the unit is also an optical jack, so it's connected to the receiver via toslink-mini or whatever it's called into the optical CD input.

a nice addition would be the keyspan remote for it... Ability to pause/play/ffw/rewind/etc THROUGH the Airport - essentially controlling iTunes remotely.
