As far as MPEG-4, compression rates suck. I get macroblocking way more often then i ever did before. Perhaps it's the number of hd channels gobbling up bandwidth or whatever, but it's annoying.

I have an H20 HD receiver in the bedroom and HR20-700S(HD DVR) in the theater room.
Hmm, that could be any number of issues. I don't notice anymore macroblocking on my H20 than I do with MPEG2 channels. If you do a signal meter test do you notice that you have a worse signal with the new MPEG4 (I think SAT5, and SAT6?) satellites than with the older ones? Could also be the receiver although if its happening on both I doubt it. Could also be because you're watching OTA channels that are compressed with MPEG2 and then re-compressed with MPEG4 -- but the DC area stations I get look fine.

My dish has transponders with "0" values. I was able to reposition the dish to get some of them to the mid-20's. A tech supervisor is coming out Thursday morning.

Well, the 5071 is sitting in my living room. I don't really have the stuff I need to burn a DVD from a VIDEO_TS folder and don't own Nero to burn the VCD, so I guess I'll just watch 200 hrs of full-screen broadcast crap to do the burn-in.

Up close, the display doesn't look as detailed as the 1080P set I just returned, but the overall picture quality, color, black level, details, etc. certainly are nice. Not that the Sharp was especially lacking, but I think I'm going to like plasma And of course, I'll be sitting here wondering about what that extra $850 for the Elite would have gotten me...
download IMGBURN it's freebie software and what I use for all of my DVD burning needs.

If you just have the VIDEO_TS folder, use DVD Shrink on it first (find it on the web for free or ask me later). That'll create an ISO file that you can use with IMGBURN.

thanks tep...

<-- mac.

I know I can do it, I have just never had the need to burn a DVD outside of the DVD authoring app the Mac comes with. And I've been too busy to figure it out.
