So my 5 year old Toshiba HD projection TV took a crap last week. Based on my research it needs some $ 200 do-hickey to be soldered on the circuit board.
Off to the dump with that behemoth
I was thinking about a new Plasma anyway, I think it found out and killed itself.
So I bought a new 42" Plasma TV from Circuit City, went with the lowly 720P model for $799.00.
My HD cable box has DVI out so I had to buy a DVI to HDMI cable, it does look better than component. Wish my Xbox had HDMI out.
Brought it home set it up. Way to low on the stand it comes with. So off to Wally Mart for a discount tilting wall mount. Best buy and circuit city want stupid money for mounts
Wall Mart sucks BTW, online price 88, in store $ 130.00 Had to go to cust service to get that fixed. One manager told me that's their policy, so I went to another and got the discount..
Wall mount is sweet, still need to hide the cables in the wall.
I am running all day at low contrast/bright settings for break-in for at least 100 hours.
So far the image quality is fantastic, only close up can you see the screen door efffect, had I went to a larger screen maybe 1080P would be better, none of the equipment I have has 1080P output.

Xbox has 1080p output.
on the purchase! I love my wall mounted LCD!

And most Xbox games are 720P anyway.
It does 1080p over component or you can get the HDMI cable. I'll be picking this up soon so that the Xbox will do upconversion on DVD playback.

The older Xbox's dont have HDMI out, that cable will not work on my xbox. Believe me I researched all of this.
To get a 1080P plasma would have cost another 3-500. The only way to get that signal properly on my xbox is to get the VGA cable, only a few plasmas support VGA.

Well, if your Xbox already comes with HDMI out, why in the F would you need to buy a cable?? I don't understand their target market...
