Default Reprogramming ecu

My brothers S has been having some issues with cold starts and after $120 worth of diagnostics the dealership said his ecu has a glitch in it. I don'tknow much about electronics so I wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions on what to do. Can it be reprogrammed easily? Honda says to get a new one but I'm looking for a cheaper option.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Pre-'06 you can not re-program the ECU's. You could likely find one at a junk yard or from someone on the boards here cheap!

If he too has an '00 you might look to get a '02-04 ECU as they run a little leaner than our originals. I think '05 they switched over to the 2.2L so those ECU's won't work well with an AP1.

His is an '01 so I will look into a newer one. Looks like I'll have to start calling junkyards

You just need to re-program the key to your new ECU.(search for the process on here somewhere)
