Anybody complete the P90x program?

Black Knight I was on vacation and just checked back in this thread. Congratulations on finishing! Glad to hear you are happy with the results. Now you are probably like me cinching up your belt in every pair of pants you have because they are falling off!
I totally know what you're talking about regarding the pants--all of mine fall off of me and I've even had to punch a few more holes in my belts! I guess that would be the only "negative" aspect to P90X! ;-)
great post guys. the more i see this, the more i want to try it out. right now with my current gym regiment, Ive bulked up significantly but I'm still 15lbs shy of a 6 pack
P90x seems like a good cutting program for me but I'm wondering if i could do BOTH p90x and have a 3 day gym program to go along with it. anyone have experience with that?

I then pick one of the cardio routines (usually Cardio X or Kenpo X) and throw that in once a week, so a total of 4 workouts a week.
I'm just starting Wk3. Week 1 was a killer, but my body started adjusting in the 2nd week. I totally suck at pullups and am using a chair for assistance. So far, I can't really tell much as far as results go. I've lost a couple of pounds, but my body weight fluctuates so much, I can't really attribute that to P90X.
My biggest problem is that I'm not following the diet, and I'm pretty sure that's a vital component to getting results with this program. I've decreased portion sizes, but I still have an occasional beer, and I still eat unhealthy food occasionally. So, I think that's going to be detrimental to my overall success.
That's actually my favorite part of that DVD... not when he says it, but when the girl says it. Her accent is sexy. So are her abs.

I'm a couple days away from completing the first month.
I too am not following the diet plan, oddly when I look at what they tell me to eat, I actually eat less. I'm sure my ratio to carbs and protein are messed up.
I've oddly gained weight, but lost a little around the midsection.
I definitely look better after 30 days, and am more fit now than I was even years ago.
I'd really like to get the 6pack going, and I can feel it underneath that little layer of fat that's there, so I'm sure I'm close.
It's not so much that I don't want to follow the diet, it's just impossible to do with my life as it is.
It's actually nuts how much stronger I have become in 30 days. I've tracked my results with the spreadsheet and what used to be hard when I started is a breeze now.. Ab Ripper X for sure.
It went like this
Day 1 - 118 Day 3-132, Day 5-190, Day 7-260, Day 9+ 300+ and that's just over a week!
One tonight and tomorrow than my rest day for the month. Next phase I'm really going for size and Uh Hem...gonna bring it.

I'm starting week 2 of the 3rd phase (week 10 total). Results so far have been great. My midsection is the leanest is has been since... well, probably ever. But it still has some fat. And muscle gain hasn't been spectacular, but that has always been a problem for me so I can't blame it on P90X. My body is designed to store fat and burn muscle as much as possible, so really I'd be genetically superior if I was still living in the wild 5 million years ago, but in today's Calvin Klein society it's just a bummer!
I did restart phase 3 twice after some holiday food binges and out of state trips and I've been maybe 80% accurate with the diet. If someone with good genes sticks to the program and diet 100%, the results will be amazing!
After this it's weights and more weights with a clean diet but with a small calorie surplus to pack some muscle while putting back on a little fat as possible.

I really like to see so many people having success. There are some doubters out there, and there is really no secret, if you are doing the workouts thats where the weight loss comes from but its more than that for people who think you could just do any workout and be fine.
The workouts can be far more intense than what we would do ourselves if you are left on your own. They are structured to hit the whole body if you do the cycles, so I would ignore my legs, or back or abs, but in this you HAVE to do them. And the cardio routines burn LOTS of calories. You could do this on your own without the tapes, but what you are paying for is well structured workouts and a plan to follow that WILL give you results just by following it. And as Black Night says, some of them are so well structured you will want to use them occasionally after you complete the program. I got bored of doing the same ones over and over by the end, but I can argue with how effective they were.
For people who have not had the success they looked for in the past, give it a try and promise to do two weeks. You will see how hard they can be, probably see some change at just two weeks, and will have worked so hard by then you won't want to give up and probably see it through.
And Mind Core, picking up a bunch of wieght can be normal too. When I start working out after a long absence my puny muscles start to hold far more water even though I am losing fat somewhere else. Its just you body adjusting to holding extra fluids because it anticipates increased need and workload.
I find it funny that nobody can stick to the twigs and leaves diet plan. I tried the best I could, but you gotta have some pasta and a french fry every now and then.
And remember, TIP OF THE DAY: Don't smash your face!

I'm just about to finish week 3 and i'm down 9lbs already. I have a bunch more weight to lose than you skinny peeps though. I've changed my diet only with portion sizes. A few more weeks and i'll change my diet completely. What's interesting is when I eat crappy foods now I feel guilty like i've wasted that hour of working out in the morning. That is fueling my desire to change my diet. I need to do one thing at a time though. First, i'm not used to getting up at 6am. I haven't gotten out of bed before 7:30a in 10 years and 6am is killing me. Second, I needed to get used to working out again. I ride the elliptical a few days a week but i haven't worked out HARD in 6 years.
I need to use a bunch of bands for pull-ups but can do all the push-ups. I'm lucky at 40 that I don't have any joint or back pain. I'm big but thankfully I can still move. My wife (who runs 21 miles a week) is doing it with me and even she gets exhausted with these workouts. When I'm done there isn't a dry patch on my shirt or shorts (go ahead, picture that)
Friday is my rest day and I really need it.

To do p90 correctly you need to be in pretty good shape. It's not a beginner's program. If you are out of shape you might do 25% of the reps the guys in the program you watch do the first time.
I did it after taking 3 months off due to knee surgery but prior to that i had a sub 21 min 3 mile time and was almost a power lifter in college in my weight class (165). It's not easy if you do it all correctly, I could only do about 90% of the reps they did. It's just going to abuse you if you are out of shape.
