argh. all of you guys + a couple coworkers are making me want to do this.
I have everything for it. I bought the dumbbells, the pull up station, have the vids.....

but the only thing besides how lazy I am that keeps me from starting is the impending feeling like total shit until I get into shape. I hate the head throbbing out of breath, nauseous feeling from working out while out of shape.

I'll get it together soon. I occationally get really motivated and go hard for 6 weeks and get ripped. Then something interrupts me and I don't get back into it for 2 years.

i've been wondering about p90x, too. looks like it works.

guys who've done the program...if you had to separate the two aspects, which do you think is more attributable to the great results: diet or the regimen?
Definitely regimen; like vader said, there's plenty that stick w/ the workouts and get great results. The diet seems to come into play if you want a 6 pack or close to one

To do p90 correctly you need to be in pretty good shape. It's not a beginner's program. If you are out of shape you might do 25% of the reps the guys in the program you watch do the first time.
Yes and no. To keep up with Tony you need to be in excellent shape but he says to do what you can and go at your own pace. My pace was slow the first week. Three weeks in and I can do just about everything at almost their pace. Tony even says in the videos that the guys in the test group couldn't do this stuff for a months. I don't want people to think that they need to be 10% bodyfat to do this because you don't.

That's good to know. My brother in law told me to just start the vids and do what I could and eventually I'd get up to speed.

You can definitely shed a lot of fat without sticking to a (their) strict diet plan, but you will NOT see top results. Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym.

Just be aware there are many people out there making crappy quality duplicates. Fleabay is full of them too.

Vader I did not know you were doing this.

I just ordered a set of DVD.

I am going to alternate

90days on the P90X for leaning and cutting

and then 30 days of bulking with heavy lifting.

rinse, repeat

I have always been a power lifter even trained a time or two with Bill Kazmaier during my college days at SWAT gym (serious workouts and advanced training) Closed there doors about 3 years a go
SWAT was the best gym I have ever seen; if there was a demand for a custom machine Kaz would build it for us.

Current as of 2-01-2010

5-07
280.4 lbs
19" biceps ( had them as large as 22")
Fore arms 14"
59.75" around the shoulders

52" chest with lat flare ( had this up to 57 at one point I was lat pulling 350lbs for sets and dumbbell pressing 150lbs in each hand for sets ( no suit) before I tore my shoulder out.

28" quads ( had them as large as 33")
18" calves (had them up tp 20.5")

Now for the realy sad part

38 to 40" wast
50" around the belly button

And I still fit in the S2k even with FIA head restraint racing seats

LOL BMI tables say I should be 121-160lbs what a joke

Cut off both my legs arms then maybe
