DSL vs Cable Modem.....

While I am preaching
, those that have or are considering wireless access points, make sure you enable WEP and consider not using DHCP. A misconfigured access point can allow your neighbors to easily surf your home network and use your broadband connection to hack other sites. Let's just say that I know it's been done.BTW, I have cable via AT&T. I've had it since Christmas and have experienced one outage and two periods of several weeks with major slowdowns. In one instance it was all but unusable. When it does work however, it rocks. DSL is not a consideration for me because I am too far away from the CO.
Oops....before you think I'm getting ready to get ripped off, I better correct that typo.
It's SDSL, not the ADSL. That's 1 Mbps for both upload and download

My cable is as fast as a full T1. However, that doesn't mean your cable would. It all depends on your neighbors.
Most DSL I have used are painfully slow, now that I'm used to cable and T1. However, if you can get ADSL at 1 Mbps or 1.5 Mbs, it can be blazingly fast as well.
It won't be cheap though. It can easily cost 300 to 400 bucks a month. I'm about to get one. Ask me again in a month.

My verizon DSL experience was horrible. (even though it's not my house)
The service was bad. The connection was awful.
The reliability was even worse.
The worse part is...when you try to switch to another DSL, and you aren't close enough to a CO AND you could still get it if Verizon would help (as a phone company).....well...Verizon won't....because you are a current DSL customer.
If you had better experience, good for you.
