Mitubishis Evo VIII: How does it shift? Is it as nice as s2k?
You know, my parents won't let me get a stick shift in h.s. or college... now that i'm graduating college, i'm gonna make up for all those years of not driving stick.
//My senior year in HS, i got a 2000 Celica GT AUTO, but i wanted a ELECTRON BLUE Civic SI
//Junior Year in College (UCSB): I got a Mazda Protege 5 AUTO Laser BLUE, but I wanted a RSX Type-S or Subaru WRX
//Now that i'm graduating, i'm gonna give my MP5 to my mom and make up and get a S2k 2004 or 2005. I hope 2005 models have diff color combos for interior!
The way i look at it, not driving stick all those years is fine with me because
Celica GT has a crappy gearbox, Civic Si has a good gearbox, but not enough power, RSX type-s has a awesome gearbox as well but boring to drive, and Subaru WRX has a notchy gearbox which isn't fun driving all the time..
So i'll make up all those years of not getting a stick shift by getting s2k.

WayneTek,
The stock Evo shifter isn't very good IMO. The throws are pretty long. However, the short shifter is a big improvement. With the short shifter, the throws are still long compared to in the S2000. Compared to most other cars, however, the Evo short shifter is very nice. It's smooth and easy to shift.
Overall, the Evo gearbox also seems to be more forgiving and less picky than the S2000's. I have never experienced any real notchiness when driving the Evo, even when it's cold. In my S2000, the gearbox is often very notchy when cold.
