It takes a LOT to bend wheels. Especially when they're off of a car and surrounded by tires.

Sound fishy to me.

As far as packaging them that way - I could see how they could get scratched, etc.., but it would take much deliberate effort to actually bend them. I would also think this type of damage would have been obvious in the packaging when received.

I have sold and shipped a few sets and I always took pictures of them off the car and after they were packaged. I would always insure the shipment and send the pictures to the buyer so that they would know what they are receiving. Did you take pictures?

If the buyer will not send you pictures or a detailed quote from a wheel repair shop, I would insist that he ship the wheels back to you immediately. Perhaps you can get a site member to stop by and check out the wheels for you. It will not cost him any money. It would be interesting to see what he would say if you asked him if someone could stop by?

I took pictures before, during and after packaging the wheels. I will be posting them when I get home tonight.

The problem is shipping cost. I would surely like to refund him but I'm already out $150 and it will cost him $180 to ship them to me.

He still owes me a set of ap2 wheels. And obviously he's not going to ship them out if he's claiming the wheels I sent him are damaged.

transactions done through the internet are just like a garage sale. As Is policy is assumed. Its his problem now. maybe he has a bad wheel bearing, maybe he dropped them, maybe they got dropped in shipping, etc, etc.

I would tell him that unless he can provide documentation from a legitimate repair shop and pictures your unable to help him. If he doesn't want to do that he can battle with the shipping company himself and try to get reimbursed without any documentation as to the damage. Your in the clear til he can provide that information.

Yeah, he needs to provide proof. He's lazy and owes you a set of wheels. He's probably $300 short on rent this month and figures to get it out of you.

If you have pictures of the wheels before you had them shipped, that is basically your proof that you have done nothing wrong. Granted there is no obvious physical damage that can be seen in the pictures.

I would request that the wheels that are owed to you be sent to you to complete the transaction. If there is any proof of damage on the buyers end, he needs to show said damage and take the correct routes in getting the problem fixed.

The more info you put out, it seems as if he is trying to scam you. I wouldn't put out any money until
1. You get your original wheels back in same fashion that you sent them ie. no damage
2. You receive the wheels that are owed to you, and he provides proof of said damage, and can prove that you sent them that way.

If none of that happens within a reasonable time frame, you need to take the appropriate actions to get your money's worth for the wheels that are owed to you, or get the wheels that are owed to you. Which just means a few phone calls to your local sheriff/police department. Keep all emails and PM's that were sent back and forth.

IF, and its a big IF, they were damaged by greyhound, the damage most likely would be a cosmetic scuff. BENDING a wheel takes a lot of force.

If they are damaged he probably went driving like a moron and hit a curb, but it just sound so fishy I bet there is nothing wrong with them except for maybe buyers remorse. Some kid wants baller wheels, lays out some cash, now wants his cash back. It happens.

I don't want to place blame on him just yet. I just want him to take pictures and give me good evidence that they are indeed damaged wheels.

I also don't want to try to scam greyhound claiming that they damaged my the wheels while shipping.

So for now, I guess all I can do is wait till he gives me the information I need.

Thanks everybody for the help. Hopefully, he'll chime in soon and give everybody his side of the story. I'll PM again, telling him to take a look at this thread.
