I had Verizon DSL, it cost me $40 a month. Very satisfied. I find that all of the customer service at any of these phone companies pretty much suck ass. I now have Pacific Bell for $50 a month(forced to have it, Verizon is not in the area) and I have to actually launch a program to connect to the internet. It is pretty weak. With Verizon, all I had to do was launch my browser.

Verizon DSL service sucks!
Had it for a year, spent lots of time going up and down, and amazingly enough, it was NEVER their fault.
It took nearly a year to have them remove a double charge for the DSL bridge and it took me 3 months to have them cancel the service. If cablemodem as available in your area, I would look at it, because Verizon DSL sucks!
Oh and did I say VERIZON DSL SUCKS!!!

My Verizon DSl has been fine. Installing it was a bitch because of conflicts with my home security system. Their techs had a tough time, bit since it has been operating it has been great.

Currently have Verizon DSL in Bethesda. Things you should know:
1. Dynamic IP, you can not get a static IP.
2. Firewall software will not allow you to connect to your office remotely, (ie. through Citrix, or PC Anywhere) (Learnt that the hard way)
3. Support sucks! (They'll take ages to fix problems) I gave up and am dealing with crappy service. Just got tired of dealing with them. Can't even switch service because they are so backed up, that it will be three or four months before they'll release the line.
Suggestions: Try looking for a third party provider (one that can get you a static IP) , get a written guarantee that they will have it on by a certain date, and hope it all comes through. Good luck.

I've been using Verizon for well over a year now. The service has improved a lot since it was first offered in my area. I can say that in the first few months the line would constantly drop everyday. But I haven't had any problems for at least the last 8-10 months.
