It would be interesting to see if the models common to the EU and the US have the plug.

In the EU market the following models have steering wheel command input:

CDA-7850
CDA-7969
CDM-7861
CDM-7858

These models are also available in the US.

The only thing about whether the manual mentions the input or not: neither my CVA-1005 nor my IVA-C800 mention remote control via the socket in the rear. Additionally, there is absolutely no mention of that socket/jack in the manual or wiring diagram... unless I overlooked it.

My point is: you cannot trust Alpine tech support... you have to find out for yourself. When the new heads are released, go to your favorite Alpine retailer and ask to see it!

As for my dash controls cutting off my built-in IR... I will try it first before I investigate solutions to fix the "supposed" problem...

Hang in there everyone!!

I guess that the unit includes the harness. Most European spec head units have an ISO adapter. This is a standard interface for power, speaker, illumination, etc connections. To fit a headunit to a car you need the corresponding ISO-car adapter. In our case it's the blue Honda connection. The Alpine table indicates that a harness is not required so that suggests the remote interface comes complete, and plugs inbetween the car connector and Alpine headunit.

I understand that the US model headunits come with bare wires, so you have to fit the corresponding car connector to the radio. If this is the case, you will either need an Alpine - ISO harness from a Euro spec model or to remake all the connections.

There is no difference in the wiring between US and European Stooks, apart from the colour code is different between RHD and LHD cars.

The European Alpine KCE-865B adapter pictured above is exactly as you said, complete with Honda wiring harness plug on one end and ISO adapter on the other.

You can see it in the pictures in this thread.

How many incorrect statements can one big-name company make?

Alpine stated that the KCE-865B would not work with US headunits... It does (as long as you have the 3.5 mm jack)

Alpine stated that plugging in the KCE-865B into my IVA-C800 would disable my built-in IR for my remote... It does not

Bottom line... see/try for yourself!

Alpine stated that their new US headunits will not have the 3.5mm jack on the back... I will bet money that the higher-end ones will. Just wait and see!

Alpinr builds great electronics but their phone/tech support appears to be clueless...

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have it from two people now that the CDA-7875 does not have the 3.5 mm jack.

I wonder if we peeked inside we'd see the leads anyway.

I hope the CDA-7878 DOES have the jack or the leads.

I'd like somebody to look on the back of the CDA-7969 head. That model is available in Europe as the CDA-7969R and definitely does in Europe.

That manual doesn't help much. What we really need is the installation manual. Is that on the Alpine site?

Shaner, you are amazing.

I want to THANK YOU in public for sending me my own copy of the Helm Electronics Manual!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I am hooked. My poor S2000 will be a guinea pig for my first amp hook - up next week.

See what you did with your seductive words, "What do you have to fear, Barry? It is all replacable one way or another."

By the way, did you mention that the IVA-C800 won't fit in the stock head spot because the screen hits stuff or just that the screen position is poor?
