The CDA-7949 has no speaker outputs, only line level outputs. It was Alpine's Flagship head unit a couple of years ago. I have an ADS P640 amp connected to this. The first two chanels are powering my tweeters, the second two channels are powering my mids, and soon the last two channels will be powering my subwoofers that I will be installing in a custome enclosure underneath my passenger side dash.

I have always loved Alpine and ADS, but due to recent experience, I am discovering that ADS has gone down in their quality. When their products work, they sound great. But, that is their current problem, I just blew a set of their speakers, and I just got my amplifier back from the ADS factory for repairs.

I agree with Luis here... you should't have to pay VAT. I mean even if you bought it there yourself, you can get the VAT refunded as you leave the country.

I am undecided between CDA-7876 (60 watts by 4, five channel equalizer, NOT mp3 capable, available now) and CDA-7878, (45 watts x 4, seven channel equalizer, IS mp3 capable, available in June or July.) I'm leaning towards the CDA-7876 and counting on running 10 gauge power cable to the battery and 10 gauge ground cable to the chassis and avoiding an amp.

If you get yours first, post here whether it works!!!
