Also, im installing the Metra ASWC tomorrow to get my dashboard buttons working... and I'm repositioning the GPS antenna to get better coverage. Regarding the ASWC I don't care if mute doesn't work. My number one goal is to get the volume up/down setup properly. Anything else is a bonus.

No other issues with the unit. 4G connection is steady and stable around town.

Looks good silenc3x, I was also thinking about installing the joying head unit. The only thing I had a concern about was the viewing angle, was it hard to look at the screen at that angle even with the ball joint magnets? I already have the ASWC installed in my car, so that would be a bonus if this unit worked with it. Keep us updated, thanks!

So Android Auto works OK with your phone? What version of Android are you running? One of the things that has stopped me from getting this is people complained that the Android Auto didn't work. I'm hoping they fixed that?

I never installed it with the stock mount, so I cant confirm. But it would be much more straight on than the ball magnets I have. Usable for sure, but not ideal. With the lightweight nature of the screen you could figure out dozens of ways to mount it though. Get creative! The ball mount was just a quick and easy solution I found.

ASWC installed today. All good except for the mute button, which is the same thing I dealt with on my Alpine unit. I'm happy. I think you can even make custom bindings if you really needed to, there is an android app that comes with the head unit that lets you set it up. Which button goes where, etc.
Let me know if you get it and have trouble installing. You basically only need to connect a single key cable, brown to brown on the harness. Then on the back of the unit connect Key and Can out cables together.

Im just using android auto on the head unit itself without my phone connected. Which works perfectly. But will confirm with my phone today. I'm on Android 10.0 on my phone and the head unit is 8.0

If you use the built in 4G, does your provider charge you for that as if it is another phone?

They charge me $20/month to add it to my current unlimited phone plan (Tmobile). It's the Magenta Tablet plan.
But it means I have unlimited data in my car too. I'm sure most providers have something similar if you add onto your current plan. That's where you'll get the best deals since you are already paying for a phone plan.

You can find individual data plans for like $10 or $20 a month but those are capped at like 2,3,4GB. Not too great.
Or tether your phone's wifi each and every time you get into your car.... which can get annoying.

Those Pioneer and Sony options look very promising. Has anyone had a chance to try one out in the stock location? I may try to compare exterior dimensions with those vs. the Joying unit to see - I don't see any reason they wouldn't work if dimensions are close enough. Does anyone have the screen dimensions on the Joying at hand? I don't really trust Amazon to have exact specs.

Thanks. That's why I'd like to be able to hook my phone up via android auto--I pay AT&T enough already.

I'll measure it later for you.
That Sony screen definitely wouldn't fit in the same spot. It's much taller. But we can compare once I post exact specs.

EDIT: The screen is 9.25" wide, 4" tall, and about a half inch thick, give or take a few mms.
