I know Ryan (RyanITV) looked into this a while back, and did quite a bit of research. You might want to PM him

 

alpine looks like a great unit just a lil on the expensive side...so i think im gonna go with the pioneer unit with the 6.5" touch screen with the navi unit...hoepfully i will b happy...thanks guys

 

Yeloscreamer and I have the same monitor. i've seen where you can get the Alpine nav unit online for about $1500 shipped. the reason I will still be getting the dedicated nav unit besides a PC-controlled one is that if the unit doesn't have a gyroscope built in, supposedly there can be lag in directions. This could be bad if you you are coming up on a turn in and you're in the wrong lane!!!


And yes, it was gut-wrenching to watch the process, especially since it was the first time my installer had done such a job. We used mikes2k's setup as a visual template and mine is a little different. Good luck!
