as far as electronics go, im pickin up a kenwood keg + the FM modulator from AHHVTEC. as far as my cars electronics go, its completely stock. 02.

what would be the best addition for the $ to my system to increase the sub-par performance? I cant afford to spend much on it as i've got to invest elsewhere, so what would be better - a lower end HU or some new speakers? thanks again

----change----

ok i have $300-400 to spend. whats the best way to spend it? i was thinking about picking up a new Alpine HU the 9833/9835 - should i spend it on something cheaper and upgrade the speakers as well? the 9833/5 has a built in amp. feedback appreicated

is kenwood the only HU that will work with/display the keg's info? i'd rather have navigational ease/quality over fancy graphics. then again i'd like both if i could afford it.

$100-$150 isn't much to work with...

If you want decent sound from your KEG, you'll eventually want to get away from using the FM modulator. I think this dictates that you purchase a Kenwood HU. Unfortunately even if you could find a HU for this price, you're still left with those stock speakers.

I'm not sure mow much power the '02 OEM HU puts out. With the '04 HU in this price range I'd probably upgrade the speakers first (possibly Infinity Reference series components).

Whichever you do first (HU or speakers) you'll want to save up your money and do the other soon. You won't see much of an improvement IMHO until you do both.

I've got an older Kenwood Excellon HU that would work wonders for your Music Keg. It's the KDC-X715. I had it for years and loved it all the way up until the day I took it out. I only replaced it because I wanted satellite radio, which it wasn't set up for. But, if you just want to hook the keg up and get good sound, this stereo will definitely be better than one of the cheaper kenwoods you could get new... Just shoot me a PM if you're interested. Here's a pic of it!

BTW, those two bigger green buttons as well as all the other preset and tuning buttons can be changed to red, so it matches pretty well.
