Thinking about installing a Kenwood Excelon KMM-X704 from Crutchfield. Is there an advantage to using the Modifry DCI unit over the recommended Crutchfield unit? There’s a big price difference. Thanks.

The Modifry is custom for the s2000, works beautifully, and has some additional features like speed-controlled volume.
The generic ones (usually Metra) cover the basics, but the mute function is either odd (requires two taps) or may not
work at all depending on the headunit, but is much cheaper.
Here's one thread but there are plenty more.

I installed the KMM-X704 in my AP1 recently. It was the newest digital media receiver I could find back in March. I just want to be able to use spotify, speakerphone and bluetooth. I also purchased the Modifry DCI and its been great so far. I was hoping for Android Auto but nothing yet seeks to tick those boxes with a single dim and work with the Modifry DCI. The stock radio was terrible. I also recently installed some Polk DB652 speakers. Big improvement over the stock speakers in my AP1.

Oth, some good info, thanks. I think I’m going to go with the DCI from Crutchfield. I’ll let you all know how it works out.

Got the Kenwood installed and overall I’m pretty pleased with every thing. I went with the Crutchfield supplied Axxess ASWC-1 steering wheel control and they now offer a “Ready Harness” service that pre-wires the Axxcess control with all of the connectors. Installation was pretty easy. Everything works except the mute control which Crutchfield tells be can be made work with some additional wiring. Wasn’t worth the effort for me though. The Kenwood is a big improvement over the stock unit even with the stock speakers and the radio door shuts just fine. I’m still playing around with the placement of the Bluetooth mic. Crutchfield’s customer service has been fantastic.
