MARKS2002 posted the width of the trunk: 36 15/16th's inches. Adequate I would think.

I'll also hide a small Alpine that will bridged mono for the rears. Don't know the wattage of that yet, but I know it won't be up to Dave's standards. (The wife couldn't get the job at the mine. Dog is still lazy.)

In case you guys are wondering; I've had the Flu and that makes for strange sleeping habits. That's why I will post at 3 in the morning, six in the morning, and then at noon and then at 7pm. I looked at the times of my posts and thought, "sheuch man get some sleep!"

OK- enough Chit Chat. I called ALPINE about ten times today and spoke to about 5 living people. Spoke to one guy three times, he told me that I'll just have to wait. "The technology is there but we're still working out a few glitches." Glitches as in, "WOW! people are really interested in this, we can charge an arm and a leg for his stuff."

ALPINE and APPLE are about the two "BLINGIEST" popular consumer electronic companies in the world right now, so I'm sure wallets will empty. Bot both companies are great innovators in thier respective fields.
So the set up goes like this: There is going to be an interface unit that will connect to the ai-net cord from the head unit. The ipod will then connect to that interface Unit. We don't know the cost of that unit, or how big it is, or if it will have fancy nite lites. We do know that all ALPINE 'o4 Headunits with Ai net and the "folders" Will be able to hook up to the unit and then to the ipod.

"Blingiest" lmao

Those measurement's def. help me out in my question of designing how I'm going to get everything to fit. Both our threads really are getting full of some pretty usefull stuff. You really are persistent with the Alpine and iPod.

Personally, I think it'd be stupid for Alpine to not take advantage of the iPod, especially with the expandability of the 3rd gen iPods. Also, all my music has been converted to AAC format, so unless I've got the iPod, I may not be able to listen to my music on the go (not sure how iTunes burns MP3 discs when the files are in AAC). Awesome job with keeping on them though.

Chad, not to worry they will take full advantage of the ipod.

And so will I.

I've already got 61 gigs of music files in my computer. It's gonna be real fun to have them in the car without burning cds.

"Hey man have you got that modest mouse alblum, Between the Moon and Antartica?"
"Yep"
"Kid LOco?"
"Yup, sure do."
"RJD2?"
"Yeah, you wanna hear it?"

and so on...

Back to the sub. I've faced facts: the enclosure I got, at a great price, is too big for a ten. (PHIL, DAVE, CHAD, ANDY?! This is where you come in) It looks like it's time for a twelve in a sealed box. The "Remote Low-Pass Level Controller" that Phoenix Gold 800Ti offers is going to be useful. Otherwise my wife could be bassin' out to "Belle and Sebastion." how embarassing. . .

Any sub suggestions on a sealed twelve:
Remember: I don't like gangsta subs, I like a tight fast sound.

I already started the process of buying the Phoenix Gold 800 Ti, I can stop it, but my guy is now getting it directly from a distributor and he's pulling strings. Pissing him off will cost me alot of money in the long run.

Now I know that 1.5 cu is a ton of space for a ten, but what about a twelve?

The pillow or blanket is such an easy solution, I want to to work for this, so I thought that I could take foam blocks put them inside the enclosure and fiberglass over them. Surfboards are made out of foam and fiberglass, so I know that the fiberglass will not "eat" the foam. That is one way of reducing the volume. But I want that sub to be tight. Any recommendations as to potential patterns, or should I just keep it flat? I'll use the pillow and blankets and adjusters, to get the sound just right.

So I can take up a little volume with foam blocks or a blanket and step up to a twelve. That way I can keep the 800 Ti, have loads of volume, and have a fairly tight bass sound. I'll be getting an inline volume adjustment for the 800Ti, so I will be able to control the punch at all times.

"The e12A is the ED monster that started all the whirl and attention on ED. be sure to read the Mobile Entertainment review quotes at the bottom of the page. i can assure you, they are not selectively quipped to 'look good' the review was incredible."

OK OK, think that the e12A is the call. I will be looking at the infinities as well. My temporary rush is over. Kind of a hurry up and wait scenario. I've ordered the ALPINE 9833, it has the functions I want and nothing I don't. But it won't arrive until late Feb, early March. The only difference between the 9833 and the 9835 is the display and $150. The 9835 has an organic El type thing. The internals (guts) are the same. You can deduct two points from the overall "Bling" score for not having a "trick" display.

I havta go to work now.

Spoke with my friend who is in the biz today and he pointed out that if Alpine is able to connect with ipod through their Ai-net (basically an IP interface) that soon most headunit manufacturers will be able to offer the same option. Just like XM radio. That being said, there is nothing special about ALPINE except for maybe a company agreement that allows them to do this. And even if there is a company agreement, it will only be valid for about six months. After some digging today I found out that the interface unit is being developed by Apple, but it will probably have an Alpine name plate on it for now. In the future who knows?!

I'm looking for some crystal balls. Seen any?

well, that's an interesting outcome on the 800.1

and the 600.2 will make 600 Wrms x 1 @ 4 ohms, so i think that's a VERY solid match on the 12A. now, it's just a matter of dealing w/ the volume and getting the whole bigger in your enclosure.

sounds like things are rolling along well...
