Help me Build a s2K Sound System
I'm talking the wife into having no spare tire. Dave tried to convince me to increase wattage: now I will have the room. I will have either two PG Gold 660.2 Tis, or One PG 600 Ti , and one PG 800.1 Ti. 1000 watts is a lot for a sub, could I go with 800 and still have a nice tight bass sound, or will I be tightening the screws of my car from now 'till I sell it. Is 800 watts overkill for the e 10 A.44 / .14 ?
800rms is def enough power to shake out your fillings....
If you guys want some diesel power...get the Audiobahn 34" sub. 5000wrms. Blow out windows of cars when you pass by them....now thats power...

Will the ALPINE 9815 work seamlessly with the ipod? I thought that Alpine wasn't releasing the HU's that work with ipod until this summer. Are they just releasing the software this summer to enable the ALPINE 9815 + others to work with the ipod?
If so I'll get my ALPINE now.

Dave,
First of all, if you like access to a large amount of music in your car you might want to look in to the ipods. 10,000 songs in a unit that weighs about as much as two cds and about the size of a deck of cards, pretty fancy.
And Unlike MP3 cds, they will never be destroyed, and are completely changeable at any time. Of course you do need to know how to use a computer, and if you are reading this, my guess is that you do. And now Alpine's AI net HU's will fully integrate. That's sofa king kool.
To find out more i pm'd modifry, that techie genius that brought us the DCI. Here's the skinny of his response:
"I did call Alpine's tech support last week to ask about the iPod interface since I'm interested in it too. They don't have a lot of information yet because it's not scheduled to be released till this summer. But they believe that any recent HU with the Ai-Net feature will work with the iPod interface, and they were 99% sure that any 2004 head unit would work. That's why I chose the 9827 - it's a 2004 model with the Ai-Net feature."
SOO, it looks like I can get an ALPINE.
Which models do you like?
BTW: Anyone want to buy a Pioneer DEH P3300? I'll sell it real cheap.

All of Alpines HU are basically very very similar, with a few key differences. I have the 9807 for 2 simple reasons....
1. I didnt want a motorized face....used to have one, and it was more annoying than it was worth.
2. Its got "everything I need, nothing I dont"
The top of line models have time corr. and other features, but I dont really need them. In your case, I would just get a HU thats from 2004 that you like. If you get rears, time correction might be of use. I use Ai-Net for XM, and when I do my screen setup, I will use it for my DVD changer. Hunits, just get what you like.

Fellow car stereo enthusiasts,
Been looking on the Alpine web site for any indication of what head units will work with the ipod. I found under "Key Features" of most of the new ones something called "MM Driver (Hard Disc Drive) Ready" which to me seems to indicate that these are the units that will be able to control the ipod through the Ai net. Pretty much all the new ones are listed with the MM driver. So that's cool, but what kind of cable will be used? It would stink to get everything installed only to have tear up all that beauty to install a single cable.
The CDA 9835 has no picture, does anyone know what this headunit looks like? Is there a picture on the web?
