Hornet 727T Alarm Install
Well, of course I left my multimeter at the apartment, so I tested it out with a test light. Hooked one end of the test light constant +12v, and probed the trigger wires with the test light probe. I tested the wires with the alarm brain powered and connected, and with the alarm brain disconnected and fuse pulled. I got the same results in each set of tests.
Ok, now I'm about 95% sure the alarm brain is defective. I tested all 3 main wires (ignition, door trigger, trunk trigger), and they work EXACTLY how I expect they would. The door trigger ONLY shows ground when a door is open (dome light doesn't matter), and the trunk trigger grounds only when the trunk is open. Ignition I chose only lights up in second position as well.
So, this leads me to believe the brain is defective. Just now, I had issues with the alarm going off immediately after arming again (seems to do it after running the engine and shutting off, then arming). So, I'm up for suggestions on what could be the problem. Possible ground interference of some kind? That seems unlikely to me, but I'm up for suggestions. I'm thinking at this point the alarm is defective..
I bought this thing a while ago, but I'll contact the seller and see if he/she offers a warranty of any kind.

DEI gives out life time warrenties last time I checked.
Talked to DEI, and there's no warranty since purchased through ebay. The repair charge is $75, which is more than a new one costs.. *sigh* Ah well, guess that's the way it goes. F'ing pos. Now the question is whether it's worth me wasting my time buying another one or just unplugging it and having no alarm..
