Default Sony Amps?

Are sony amps any good? I am looking at a grand cherokee and am thinking about putting 3 cm3 12" diamonds in it. Sony amps tend to be cheaper and i am looking to go cheap on this (it will be my beater). I currently have a PPI PC1400 old school over 24" long amp. I just dont know it it would have enough to push them. I am not real sure what it is rated and cant find out anywhere. Any comments would be helpful. Also, this is the headunit i am considering: Clarion DXZ545MP.

Cheap amps fry, and fry your subs, thus consting you twice as much in the long run. Dont skimp on amps. And no, sony isnt good, its pure crap.

I'd rather cut my manhood off than buy Sony Xplop...

For Buget Go for something from,Macaudio, Vibe, Kenwood, or the lower range stuff from RF or Phoenix Gold.

just PLEASE NOT SONY !!!

What I don't understand is why you are trying to run 3 12" Subs on a budget?

I believe the PC1400 was underrated at 400X1 (4) and 800X1 (2). Suppose to actually put out close to 1KW though. (second hand info)

Assuming you got all 3 speakers together down to 2 ohms, you could do it, but I think it would sound better with just 2 12's.

I agree, 3 subs is abit overkill. I would think two 12's would be fine and would even go as far as saying one, with enough power, would sound fine in a Jeep. You're going to be sitting in one big enclosure. Keep the PPI and go with 2 subs.
