Price range? If you want the Maybach of amps, get a Brax. JL makes good stuff, the upper level Phoenix Golds are good, as are Memphis (IMO), Boston Accoustic, and Alpine. Those are my favorites (amp wise), personally.

As far as subs go, JL is good (W6 thumps), Kicker (Solobaric L7) thumps as well, Rockford Fosgate Power series are decent. These are the ones I like (but are outta my $ range ).

You will probably want 400+ WRMS if you really want it to pound good. (I am running 283WRMS, and at lower volumes it leaves me wanting more, and the cabin volume catches up to the sub at higher volumes a little to much).

A JL 500/1 with a 10w6v2 should thump pretty good. You might want to travel to a local shop and see what you like (everyone is different). You are also kinda confined in box volume (unless you want to spend $$$ on a custom job). Take that into consideration. Usually the toolwell is ~1.0-1.25 CF depending on the box design and material.

I was looking at the jl 500/1 thats about in my range for price for a amp.Now how well will the jlw6v2 perfrom with such small air space or was it designed for that. What about the 10 box that the guy makes on here that fits on the pass side of the trunk, thats pry not enough air space for that sub.But id really like a enclosur in the tool well

Wlaurent makes the trunk enclosures, the eD 11kov is a great sounding sub from what I hear. Your looking at about a 400 watt requirement or more for that one.

Or you can go with what alot of us have used, the Alphasonik PSW810.
If your looking for sound quality, clarity and an over all great sub, I would say check out the Alphasonik. I had one, sold my system and now I am doing a new system and I am going with this one again. I was running 500 watts rms, and it was great. You can shake the whole car if you like. Someone on here is running it with 800 watts. It wont fit in the Wlaurent box, but you can make a tool well box that it will fit in nicely. My first box was .75 cubic feet, my new one I am making is going to be .60 cubic feet. Does not need a lot of air to perform.

Its a super nice sub.

I love my Kicker L7. It's only an 8", but I'm powering it with a 500W Memphis amp and it supplies all the bass I need. It also sounds seemless with the Focals in the doors. If I turn my sub down, it sounds like I turned the bass down on the doors, it blends perfectly. No other noises that tell me I have a sub behind my head (which is mounted in the rear deck in my car). There are a lot of kicker haters here, but I've always been happy with them.

I had 2 L5's. Tons of bass, but it lacked a bit in depth compared to some of the other subs.

I got a great deal on a JL 12w6v2 and I got a JL 500/1 to power it. I needed you will need at least 1 cu ft though so will need a custom box. it pounds pretty hard and i havent had a chance to even get the system tuned properly yet.

Not a bad deal, seeing as the w6 I think retails for like $200ish by itself. Make sure its not a scam first. I dont think its the official Stealth Box, I think those are recessed with a false floor. Looks decent. You should request pictures of the underside of the box, to make sure its not just a board stretched across the tool well.
