Default Best intake setup for Vortech Supercharger?

Hi, I have a supercharged AP1 and currently have the filter on a 3.5" elbow off the blower. I was just given the vortech kit's heat sheild and am thinking about putting this on (as per kit specs ie blower -> elbow -> flexhose -> sheild -> filter) would this be the best setup? or has anyone found gains from using anything else? the flex hose would be a bit of an eye sore in my bay, but i think it'll be more efficient..

others have suggested putting a mushroom filter directly on the blower (HKS/Greddy Looking type) and others have suggested to just put a screen on the blower and run no filter/intake arm etc.

also, I plan on running about 15psi soon. would i have to change the setup to accommodate for the extra boost? move up to 4 inch maybe?

Thanks

There are pictures in the thread. You can copy it if you want a 4 inch intake. My supercharger is a T-trim and has a 3-3/4 inch intake. I necked the 4 inch 6061 aluminum elbow down with a silicone coupler to fit the supercharger. There are also 4 to 3-1/2 inch silicon couplers available for S-trim Vortech superchargers. I don't know the size of the comptech intake. Summit Racing has polished elbows very cheap. You need a 4 inch radius bend. The six inch will not fit. K & N makes many filters that will work.

There is a large amount of cold air available where I have the intake filter. Air enters from the fender and around the radiator.

IMHO the mushroom filter on the supercharger is not a good idea.

Sideways, I'd like to know more about your setup (not just the intake but the whole motor) do you have a build thread? i'd be interested as to what you needed to make that amount of power with the vortech blower

thanks
