The big differences in the two are that I had to change the orientation of the snail on the blower to accomodate the PWR and that I went to heavier clamps to ensure everything is supported well.

Let me know if there are any questions about either setup.

YS,
the PWR you are referring to, what is that exactly? is that a CAI? or a after cooler?

See in his second picture, that bulge just before the throttle body? It has 2 coolant line going to it. It is equavalent to the Vortech "chargecooler" (Power Cooler). Yes, it is the intercooler.

so that was aboviuosly a custom piece. I have the one that is made for the miata or for a jackson supercharger for a miata. I thought that something like this could be done.

YS,
Whoever made the cooler for you, will they reproduce another one? This has to be less than the one that comptech may announce later this summer.

I am seeing prices of 1000-1500.00 for their version????

Did you upgrade the pulley to produce more PSI to avoid loss of pressure due to a the intercooler/fins blocking the passage way to the TB/intake? ( i know that is not the right term, but you know what I mean).

Also is your air filter inside the other polished tubular housing, like a prm cai?

Alot of questions I know. I have read the threads and YS has done something totaly different than everyone else that is bolting on the product.

xviper, thanks for the explanation, I didn't notice the two lines and buldge, I did however notice the different piping on the exit side of the blower.

YS,
thanks for answering all of the questions that i asked.

To be able to keep AIT's to ambient +10/12, is a very positive gained result of your efforts.

What i like about what you have done is that it is not a cookie-cutter design. I feel that the comptech will be a cookie cutter design to meet immediate market needs. I will see what their aftercooler looks like and results. Otherwise, I maybe in touch with you in the future.

Last question: What was your before and after dyno?

I saw a prototype of the Comptech intercooler at Sacramento S2K Days this w/e. They claim it could be ready for sale in as little as a month, but had no definite date or pricing yet. They say the initial version will have the same boost as the non-intercooler model. They will also offer it as an upgrade for existing kit owners. Below is a photo.

From earlier posts, I got the impression that the Comptech doesn't use crankcase oil for lubrication like the Vortech. This isn't true. While the Vortech taps into the oil pan, the Comptech has an adapter that uses the flow to the VTEC controller. (I'm guessing that the Vortech design probably provides better flow, but it requires more work to install.)

At the same show I saw VTEC Racer's Vortech equipped S that was producing 311 rwhp with stock plugs. (The plugs were causing misfiring above 8600 rpm, so he'll be testing again with cooler plugs) The car had no other engine mods. I ran with him for several hours, and the car is fast, fast, fast.

Here's the Comptech:

FYI, Ultimate-racing.com provides dyno charts for two S2000 supercharger kits, one of which is noticably better than the other at every point in the RPM curve (see link below). For example, Kit 1 provides 281 peak WHP at 9000 RPM while Kit 2 provides 248 peak WHP at 8000 rpm. The HP and Torque are much more linear with Kit 1 than with Kit 2. So which is Comptech and which is Vortech? According to superchargersonline.com, an intercooler is required to achieve the best SC results. So that would suggest that Supercharger kit 1 is the one with the intercooler (aka Vortech) while Supercharger kit 2 is the one without the intercooler (aka Comptech). What do you guys think?

I think that your theory may have some truth. Although I witnesses a comptech on its first dyno run throw down 294 whp and 174 tq. This kit was not tuned and it had been on the car for 2 weeks.
