S2000 Forced Induction S2000 Turbocharging and S2000 supercharging, for that extra kick.

Has anybody else had problems with Haltech Platinum Pro?

I put in AP2 coil packs. I was told it is noise interference from AEM's tech support....

We are getting warmer, just to make sure we are all on the same page. You also had a miss / breakup around the same RPM when using your AEM EMS on your AP1. So after talking with AEM they felt the problem was with the coils themselves, which for the record is what I believe will fix the issue. After replacing the coil pack the miss was no longer present.

Now Jeff Evans and many others are certainly more versed in this topic but I belive there is an issue between the EMS and coils. There are several pt#'s of coils from Honda and I am sure that AEM, Haltech, PROEFI...... have not tested all of them. So there is some issue with dwell, or some other setting that causes some cars to experience this issue.

Maybe we should start a poll and the cars that are having trouble post up the OEM part number of the coils they are using.

I haven't made much progress. I am still testing the different trigger threshold values. I also need to test with the VTEC solenoid unplugged, but I need a new tune before I do that. This is going to be a slow process for me unfortunately. It shouldn't be too difficult for me to try some different coil packs though.

This sounds like a good idea, but how do I know the part # for the coils in my car? Is it written on them?

Hi Guys - I want to be upfront and let you know that I'm Matt Wright, i work for Haltech as a project manager. Currently im based out of the USA office but i am originally from Haltech head office in Australia. So now we are no longer strangers let me tell you why im here on this forum. This thread has been brought to my attention from one of our customers who has experienced a similar problem with a high RPM misfire so i thought i would check it out, make contact with the s2k community and hopefully be able to both gain and share some knowledge at the same time.
So here goes - from our end this issue has been reported to us directly only a handful of times and as has been mentioned previously in this thread the problem is not common to all vehicles, some vehicle exhibit the issue some do not, adding to this is the fact that the problem doesnt happen all the time (ie it doesnt happen every time the engine gets to 7000RPM etc, only sometimes)...this makes for a pain in the ass to try to find the problem because it must be some combination of tolerances on some vehicles sometimes...but not all the time and not on all vehicles. But with the help of this forum bringing together the s2k community we are able to gain a much better insight to what exactly may be causing this problem on the vehicles that are having problems. So firstly thank you guys for all being here at the one place !

The steps we are taking to solve the issue - We have a slew of possible fixes (depending of course on the root cause of the issue) that we are currently testing in vehicles both in the USA and in Australia. We are hoping to have positive feedback on these potential improvements over the coming weeks. Of course when a solution is found i will pop back into this thread and let you all know what we found. In the mean time if there are any questions or comments that you have about any Haltech products please do not hesitate to contact me directly on matt@haltech.com

Huge to you guys for pony'ing up, and making your way to this forum. Seeing this post speaks volumes for both your company, and its employee's, so thanks for taking the time to come on over here, and touching base with us.

I know my tuner (Jeff Evans) has been working with you guys (and his customers) to assist in finding a resolution for this trouble.

Please let us know if there is any data/symptoms/logs or anything that us "common folk" can provide you guys that you may need/think would be helpful.

Hey Guys - its been a couple weeks since i last stopped in an introduced myself. Just wanted to give you all an update on the testing we have been undertaking, first thing i have to do is give props to all you guys here on the s2ki forum - i've been directly contacted a couple of you who are having this issue and your input and description of what your cars are doing has been awesome. Thank you all, your help really has helped us speed up the process.
So to let you all know ive become abit of an S2000 junkie over the past month, seriously thinking of buying one for myself now i've had the opportunity to get some extended hours in some....ive had S2000 engines on the engine dyno, stock NA cars, supercharged cars and one super sweet AE86 Corolla with a turbo S2000 engine in it - all of which i have been thoroughly impressed with. I was able to replicate the problem some of you are having at about 7400 on a couple of vehicles (which is good because being able to replicate the problem presented the biggest challenge). We made a very minor change to one component on the ECU and have so far have had good results. We are going to make sure we get some hours on each of these vehicles before we declare victory over this one, but so far its looking positive.

Thats all i have for you guys, just wanted to give you all an update and if any of you are heading to SEMA next week be sure to drop by out booth and say G'Day - I'll show you pics of the AE86, anyone who doesnt think its awesome gets a slap in the neck with a wet fish.
