The Cosworth idea looks intresting maybe consider giving it a try. However the ILP 3mm seems to last pretty well. Mine still seems to be OK. I just wounder if I would pick up more low end grunt with out it. But then I would proably not be able to boost as high.

At this point I'm leaning towards the Cosworth 1.1mm gasket. (Although i"m probably going to be disappointed with the overall power output with more stringent limits on boost.)

It will be less work and money than going the built motor route.. I'm getting lazy and cheap with the car it seems.. I'm really getting tired of dumping a large amount of funds into it.

As long as you can still put 400 to the wheels it will still be fast. You may want to look into a smaller turbo though. That 5857 might do a bit better on the low end for you. Good news is you can sell yours so you aren't really going to spend much on getting a new turbo.

Forget about the motor, that is just another headache and chunck out of your wallet you don't need. By the time you buy and install a motor you will have $3,500-$5,000 to spend. That would be a nice down payment on a 335I-S.

A turbo with a little better spool on the bottom end would be nice if I have to run lower boost, but I already have TWO 5965B's right now (one on the car and one in the garage)... That's all I need is to buy another turbo. I wonder if it would even fit without notching the frame.

Yeah I can get the built bottom for 2500, but then I got to yank the whole motor out and disassemble everything and then put it back in. Not the thing I really want to do right now..
The head gasket and studs is under 300 and then its just a matter of pulling the head.

Agreed, that money would be better spent on a new 335I... That has to wait till at least next year though since I just bought that RAV4.

Why don't you sell the (2) 5965's and that will easily pay for the 5857BB or a GT3076. Yes they will fit.

He will need a B housing, does the 5857 come in a B? I know with the GT30 you can. I think the the 5965 should be a fine turbo. I prefer the use of the E and S housings bassed on my research.

Inline ships all the 5865 units with a B housing as a standard.
