I have the 5965E journal bearing turbo and mine did that same thing when I finished install. It did it the first couple drives and then went away. I have the Greddy restrictor fitting hooked to a -4 line. I am also running 5w40 oil. It is fine now though. What kind of oil are you running?

Currently am currently running standard 10-40w just for startup, when I am sure I have the fuel trims correct I will switch to 0-40w Synthetic.

I installed all the parts EXACTLY like InlinePro showed and will all the parts they sent, well exept for the few peices like the DP bracket I felt needed to be modified.

Well despite the oil set back I am moving foward still.

I made my heat sheild and cover for my battery box, even figured out a place to keep a key to open the battery box.

I like the heat shield!
Looking good Scott.

I think you motivated me to work on my car tomorrow.

Well I spoke with Precision and Tom and IP and both seem to agree that I probably receive the incorrect oil restrictor with the turbo. The first thing that Precision said is that I was stacking liquid in the drain but I doubt that is the case as IP used a nice drain system.

I ordered a new restrictor from ATP, and will pull the Precision supplied adapter as soon as it arives and check it. For all those with a Precision BB turbo they should be supplied with a 0.035" restrictor.

Here are some pics of the oil supply, I immediately thought that the restrictor was wrong but Tom at IP tells me that the restrictor is in the bottom of the fitting not the top.

Good info! I like the attention to detail, especially with the heatshield blueprint . I guess it's the engineer in you. I'm also running the same size restrictor for my GT30r.

Have you considered a heat shield for the passenger motor mount? I've read that a few IP owners had an issue with the mounts melting/failing.

some links for you:
failed motor mount

a thread I started when considering IP

How high is your oil level? My car was doing the same thing as yours, not sure if you seen my thread - https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?act=S...42&t=736411&st=

Car only smokes when my oil level is high/full. My oil return isn't as high as it could be and if I put too much oil in it, it smokes at idle, especially if the car is on a decline. I've been keeping the oil below full right in the middle of the dipstick and now have no issues. Just something to consider.

Yes, I do try my very hardest to enable others and try and reduce the steep learning curve all of us have experienced the hard way.

As far as the lower heat shield is concerned Yes and No. I originally used a generic rounded but I did I was not completely satisfied so I bought the DEI Titanium blanket. I was a little disappointed to find the it fits a (4) bolt flange not the Ford Style (5) bolt. I was able to make it fit but is it as nice of an install as I wanted.

PS. There are no blankets I could find that would fit with the IP setup and have a (5) bolt pattern.

Now, your heat shields are a different story, I absolutly would recomend them but I was too late to take advantage of the information.

Sarek's SWEET build with Inconel Heat Sheild

I did not see your thread before but after reading it, you are having the exact same problem I am experiencing. The worst time it smoked was while I was at a stop light on a small incline. I can smell oil while parked on a level surface but there is no smoke and the lower the level the less issues I have. In fact it did not start until I topped off my oil after being about a quart short during the initial startup.

Since I have tapped my pan as high as I can without hitting the girdle I was hoping not to have this issue. I guess the only solution it to tap the girdle if I do indeed have a restrictor.
