This is really disappointing to hear. I just finished my build with these pistons and was planning for some dyno time next month. I was planning on shooting for 450+ hp with these, now Im not so sure.

Wadzii did you actually see melting on the valve reliefs? Were the cars boosted, or na?

Asked Mahle about this and this is the reply:

"Ok so you have our 2618 alloy piston with a hard anodized top ring , we have never had one of these fail and for the link with the picture you sent if that
person did break a set they never told us about them so not for sure the issue there.

If you have a proper tune the part will perform fine. We also make this same style pistons for the H22 engine and never had a issue with them."

Feels a bit better at least, what do you guys think, worth the risk?

Bump on that! Can anyone share is the wrist pin on mahle pistons dlc coated? And is there any problem their piston to be used in wet/mid darton sleeves? Part No. S2K181435X06 (87.25mm, CR 11.7 on F20).
About the small end - it has to be honed!

Sorry for the old topic but I'm looking for the answer for a long time.
