Not tapping the oil pan
When the oil drain is below the oil level and your PCV fails completely, then the uncompressable pressurized oil can climb up into your turbo.
If the oil drain is above the oil level, a PCV failure means the compressable air above the oil level would not be able to over come the turbo drain.
That's the way I heard it - don't really know if it's fact or theory though . . .
