Best way I'd say is just run the stock ports to a catch can, and have the catch can vented to atmosphere. If you want to go through the extra work of welding on an fittings that's fine too, certainly can't hurt. Either way just vent to atmosphere and call it a day. The advantage of using the stock ports on the valve cover is I believe they're baffled.

Pressurized air will take the path of lease resistance; if you're going to run additional ports on the front of the vc, I suggest capping the factory ports (5/8" heater plug and 14mm x 1.5, respectively).

Got a question for you experts. On a warm start, my car will idle pretty lean. Sometimes in the 15-16 range. If I let it idle for a minute it will eventually work its way back down. If I start driving immediately it has no lean issues. This only happens when the engine is war,. I've read before that with the AEM EMS that a certain table needs to be adjusted to compensate. Just wondering if lean idle could be potentially dangerous for the motor?

How is everyone capping off there stock breather ports on the valve cover?
i had both of my ports cut off and welded shut and then 2 -10AN bungs to a catch can. I used the Blue ridge motorsports catch can/coolant can and this seemed to be a pretty effective way to catch the oil. when my motor blew i had quite a bit in the can lol.

on my evo i have what would be on these cars, the front port that recircs to the intake, and the pcv hooked into a catch can. i don't really think this is the greatest way to do it, but it at least can catch something and provides some ventilation , though nothing more than just leaving the ports open . this is the same thing that kings performance does for their catch can.

Just read through this whole thread lol. Found out alot of good stuff.
I'm looking forward to boosting my S within a month or 2. I've built and boosted my 93 Del Sol. So I'm fairly familiar with turbos and such... Never on a obdII though. On my Del Sol I would set up a tune on Hondata S300 that would run pretty lean (no NOx emissions here) and adjust the timing a bit and smog it.. That way.
How do you guys do it when running aem ems for example? How do you guys get the monitors to set for smog emissions? Just curious.
you have to put your stock ecu back in. it is sort of a PITA but i would swap injectors back, map sensor back, stock ecu and you will be able to drive to the inspection station fine as long as you don't boost.
Do you disconnect a charge pipe?

i guess you can disconnect intercooler piping from the turbo but if you're in vacuum the whole time you're not going to hurt anything

Yeah that's what I was assuming.. Thanks for confirming that for me d-bo.
But then also gotta throw in any sensors if you removed them like sensor 2 oxygen sensor... Air pump n shit uh?
Emission season sucks bad haha

I was hoping the aem ems would take care of all that. Like feeding the stock ecu passing information about the monitors. Kind of like what the SRT4 guys do when they are using Diablosport. But I guess that's only because they are basically flashing the ECU.. Bleh.

Will I have any luck at all trying to install a Mishimoto fan shroud onto my radiator without removing either my upper or lower radiator hose? I don't know that I have the room to angle the shroud in there without disconnecting one of the hoses... and I really don't want to disconnect one of the hoses.

Also, my Mishimoto radiator still has the Mishimoto radiator cap on it which leaks every now and then and I don't trust it. I want to buy a more trustworthy cap. Should I just buy a Mugen or Spoon one? Will they fit on the Mishimoto radiator? Cause I know that the OEM radiator cap won't fit on the Mishimoto radiator. Sorry for noob question.

Edit - looks like Spoon Type-F is what others have bought. Any other suggestions welcome. Sorry for blowing up the FI general chat, lol.
