Turbo Help!
Ok.. so i finished my turbo build.. Stock bottom end with a 2mm head gasket.. freshly resurfaced head.
started it up, then I hear the noise a broken TCT makes. I ordered up a new one, replaced it.. still made the noise but less. So, i ordered up a new timing chain and chain guides. Installed those, still makes the noise but less apparent than before BUT after i let it run for a while, the car shuts itself off.
Pull the valve cover, and i think it skiped timing.. so i had the chain realigned and still.. same thing..
IS THERE ANYTHING SPECIAL, I NEED TO DO TO REALIGN THE CHAIN WHEN INSTALLING A THICKER HEADGASKET?!?! anyone know or been through what i'm going through?

I put the 2mm Cometic in this past February.
I did clock the idle gear on timing chain. had to move the outer gear clockwise as far as it would go after I removed the little pin. Then I tightened it. Still runs good, but I had it dynoed, and I'm running rich. Top HP was 156 on a dyno dynamics.
You could've dropped something down that Timing Chain well, too. stick a magnet pickup thingie down there, maybe you'll luck out.

Well, I did it. Everyone who put an HG thicker than stock did. See, thicker HG raises the head, changes the distance between crankshaft gear and the idler gear on the head. That really throws off your timing. So, to compensate, you clock the outer gear clockwise. It's all explained and shown here. It's for a 3mm, but it's same for 2mm HG install:
