1. Racing stripes on a convertable...
2. Racing stripes maybe if you had a hardtop...
3. Mugen hood with offset stripes instead of down the center...

Pretty BOLD setup you got...

imho, it's great to hear that you feel unique for doing something that not many people would do. i think knocking down others as if you are above them somehow is, however, a bit humorous. in plain english, you're attempting to imitate a design from an american muscle car by painting stripes onto you japanese roadster. i don't see how this is any different from an american muscle car putting imitation Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS300 taillights on their car. the latter would be considered a ricer, but you are somehow an early innovator?

poor rio yellow.
Yeah, I'm the Christopher Columbus of Racing stripes on the S

Really, geekd on the board gave me the idea so I have to give props to him. I know he endured alot of comments on his and as far as I know, still has them on.

Ok, so a Japanese car has no american heritage. The first Cobra was a british roadster crammed with a V8 engine. We could compare that to the fact that the S is a foreign roadster with a larger engine in the US model now. This is simply my interpretation.

I like it. I would have de-badged, though.
that's a good idea (even coming from you skip ) it wouldn't interupt the flow of the stripes that way

Thought about a few things like that, but I liked the idea of the stripes going around the badges so I stuck with that. I came up with the idea of having the stripes come in on the inside of the "H" on the top and exiting on the outside of the "H" on the bottom. It's hard to tell in a picture, but if you see it up close, the lines flow with the emblems. You can get kind of an idea by my avatar.

BTW, I updated the first post with pictures that are more detailed than the other ones. I also added extra high res ones in the gallery under the spa section if you want to look there. They should be one of the latest additions.

When I ordered the car, I got a Berlina Black hardtop to go with it (still waiting on that). So, naturally to make the car flow, I decided on the berlina stripes.

I've been seeing more cars on here that go with a berlina top. I think it looks really stealthy especially if you tint the windows out. I've seen a white and a silverstone with a black top and they looked really nice. I figured I'd do the same with the Rio, so when I bought this last one, I ordered a berlina black hardtop with it.

My comment on making it flow was the fact that I chose black stripes instead of silver. Three colors would just be too busy.

Still confused?

I like the idea, but I'm not sure I would have gone top to bottom, front to back. If going down the ceter (like you did) I would probably have stopped at the front of the nose, above the grille (not abruptly, it would have ended an inch before the grille). In the back, I would have ended at the top of the trunk, an inch before the third brake light. I think slightly thinner, offset stripes would look good (in silver). If I was looking for something a little more "out there" having a twin band at the nose a la "Ecure Eccosse" C-type and D-type Jaguars would be kind of cool.

I think it looks pretty good. However, I would have left maybe a 1/4"-1/2" border of yellow around the badges. I think it would have been a nice detail and really set it badges apart, made the stripe look like they were there from the factory. Now it kinda looks like an afterthought, with the stripes dying into the badges like that. looks decent either way I guess.
