Dyno Tuning

i'm sure we all know that to properly acknowledge a gain, a baseline dyno and a post-install dyno is necessary to evaluate the performance. that is a fact and let's leave it at that.
someone trying to make me look like a total dick

but really though. i am not a big dyno whore, but having a baseline is the only way to know for sure where you were. then maybe after a few parts, and esp if you add a tuning solution, hit up the dyno and see where you are now. i never baselined stock, and i am mad i didnt, becuase after i bolted on a few parts and dyno'd, i made 206whp on a dynojet at location A
then i added aem ems, rebaselined at dynojet location B, made 202 whp, and then tuned that hog on the dynojet at location B and made 215whp. now i know for sure i gained power from the bolt on non tuned state. but what the helll did i make being at stock, and did i gain anything from stock adding parts to a oem ecu s2k? to make myself feel better i can say i had a friday built s2k motor and it was weak from the factory, or i can say it was too hot when i dyno'd my baseline. but i will never know. every motor is different, every dyno will read different, and weather and location will affect results too.bottom line, fnd a dyno, baseline at it, and only use that one for comparos. otherwise, your just as fooked as the guy that never dyno'd
Personally I dont see much point in dyno'ing after everymod. My intake works when at speed (snorkal) and I wouldn't expect to see anything on a dyno other than a few HP for having a clean filter.
You do realize that putting your car on a dyno does put some wear and tear on it (depending on the dyno). Not to mention some people dont live close to a dyno and who the hell wants to buy a part then take it with them to a dyno, baseline the car, then pull into the parking lot swap parts and dyno it again??? I doubt you are going to talk many people into that...
I use a dyno to tune the car after installing aftermarket parts

.dynojet rollers are 2700lb, so the car spinning those rollers is almost like driving the car around on the street..
Here is my philosphy when dynoing. When you first get a car, baseline it. Throw on a few bolt ons exhaust, header, intake. Go get a VAFC2 take it to the dyno for a tune and then you can see where you are at. It makes no sense to dyno after getting the exhaust and after the exhaust and after the header.

Turning your car on puts wear and tear on your car...
You guys don't understand what he's trying to say. He's not saying that everybody should get the car dynod after every mod. But if you didn't dyno your car before and after then you have no idea if you gained a single thing and you shouldn't go around telling people that you felt about a 6.8whp increase because your ass dyno isn't that well calibrated. I personally don't mind doing before and after dynos since its only 20 bucks and it gives me piece of mind I actually wasted money on something that helps. If not that ill take the part off, go back to stock and sell. Why would I spend money to lose hp assuming that's the case.

gb knows whats up, lol
