Mike: I instruct with most of those groups you mentioned, and will be @ homestead speedway next weekend instructing and running TT, you should come by and check it out.

My setup is 17x10 245x4 comptech front bar stock rear bar, KWV3 coilover's, Hard Dog roll bar. waiting to order my 17x10's. As far as brake pads im going to try something that I don't think may have tried yet, do to the problem of the front rotor's cracking I'm going to run XP12/XP16 to see if that will take away some front bite and go from there.

I won't have my car ready for next weekend as im still waiting for the roll bar to arrive, but I plan on making it to the Road ATL event in DEC with NASA SE. This is the place you want to be to get ideas of how you want to run your car.

You think I should be setup 17x9 all around?? I havent installed the wheels yet.. 255 all around as well?? Thanks for the info..
That's what I run and I like it. 255 RS-3s are really cheap too, like $130. I'm a bit primitive and believe in stuffing the widest tire you can under the car. I wish I had bought they 17x10 RPF1s now and did at least 275s.

My car weighed out a little rear heavy when I put it on corner scales.

Since you already have the wheels and tires, I would just buy 08 Club Racer front springs and shocks. That will up the front spring rates quite a bit and tame the car's oversteer tendency somewhat. Mine can still be a little tail happy depending on driver inputs and, apparently now, tire selection.

I wouldn't go with a higher cF pad in the rear. Just bring spare rotors. The rotors crack similar to the C5 corvette rotors in the sense that they crack on cool down, at least in my experience. I've never had one crack while lapping, only afterward during cool down.

Ok brakes are complete and the car is VIOLENT as can be..LOL So now i can see the lack of need for a BBK.. They werent even warmed up and i cant use 80% of the braking on the street.. I guess well see how the car performs next weekend at Sebring.. IF these pads end up over aggressive can you guys make some other suggestions??

Thanks!!

Anything but Hawk Blues? Hawk Blues are notoriously hard to modulate.

Im an idiot for choosing the blue then.. Can you suggest another hawk pad or different brand pad and model?? The black looked to be more mild on initial bite but dont offer for the fronts from what i see.. The other models from Hawk appear to be even more aggressive than the blue.. Thanks for the advice in advance!!!

Also do you think HP Plus will work for long 30-1hr sessions?? Any opinion on pagid.. I see the yellows now for the s2k and i loved them on my Gt3 but they only come front.. Any issue you think swapping to just different fronts or would i run into problems with Blues on back still?? Sorry for all the questions but with all the experience from the guys in this thread i figured id ask.. Thanks!!

HP+ might not be aggressive enough, they are a combination of street/track pad. It might not be a big deal if you're starting off, but since you have a suspension and NT01's you might get too fast for them pretty quickly.

The Carbotech XP10/XP8 are a popular combination on here, but they can be finicky if they are not bedded in right (and they should be matched to a fresh rotor).

Each driver is different. I'd say try the Blues since you already have them. I mean, you want the car to stop, don't you?

Carbotech now sells pre-bedded race pads. And, in my experience with XP10/XP8, on both my S2000 and my Spec Miata, they really didn't mind not being bedded (before they went pre-bedded), either in terms of braking efficiency, or pad longevity.
