I've never heard of it do you have a link? I've always just used white teflon tape (teflon paste I've had mixed results with), but if there's something better I'd be interested.

Ian300D,

I posed your situation to Canton and here's is their reply. Does this sound like what's happening?

Dave,
This is the same issue we had with the K series pan and it frankly perplexes me every time. The rails are laser cut so they are the same exact cut every time for every rail so in theory if this guy is having trouble mounting it everyone should have trouble mounting it because they are the same rail. Not to mention when they get finished they get dropped on the block. The only thing I can see possibly happening (and you can verify this by asking him if it is on the AC bracket side) is that the rail was distorted ever so slightly when that bracket was welded on. The first pan that was done sucked the hole side of the pan in (didn't affect the rail) because of too much heat. Maybe that pan the welder let the pan get a little to hot and it distorted the rail ever so slightly. While that should have been picked up in QC I wouldn't be surprised if it actually dropped on our block and is just a tiny bit too tight for his. It however is a very easy fix and shouldn't be a big deal. Hog that whole out a tiny bit and he should be good to go.

Thanks for that! The pan was warped just ever so slightly. I just barely filed the holes out, and I mean just a hair. Then I bolted pan up with only a couple threads on each bolt holding pan about a inch from block until all bolts where in. Then I was able to bolt pan up without issue. I had my pan with AC bracket and powder coated. I want to say I'm not bothered by this at all, it's a custom steel pan took me a extra 10 minutes on install so not a big deal.

I will be filling with oil today, fingers crossed on no leaks.

** Also quick tip for other's with AC. When taking old pan off you don't need to touch ac compressor, just unbolt the 2x 14mm bolts that hold ac compressor to bracket. When pan is off car swap bracket over to new Canton Pan. Install new Canton Pan with bracket on and you'll be good to go. Also remember to test fit with bolts in every hole, would suck to start and realize you had to take pan off for adjustments.**

Just wanted to report, the pan filled ~6.5 quarts. 7.75 QT in total including my oil cooler

Did anyone check if the OEM drain washer fits the Canton drain bolt?

Thanks 99SH. Was it with or without new oil filter?

^ That's with a new (dry - not pre-filled) filter.

It does not fit. The oem one is too big.
