Prepping for BSP
If all you want to do is run Hoosiers, it doesn't make much sense to move to BSP. I'd stay in what ever class you fall into and just run the car (w/ the purple crack). In addition, there is hardly anyone in NNJR/PHIL BSP. So not only is it costing you $$ to go to BSP, there isn't anyone to compete against. You will be in the same position as you were pre-BSP. Just IMO.
Are they?
Things I said cost money
1.- Any computer control module- Haltech can be used! $1500
2.- Any steering wheel- Awesome! $500
3.- Spoilers $200
4.- Rollbars and fuel cells permitted- Saves weight, no fuel starve (fuel cell/surge tank $1000ish)
5.- Any wheels- What does the top s2k guy run currently? (custom CCW and hoosiers $4000)
6.- Any intake manifold (ITBs legal? What about the Hondata gasket?)- Saves 40LBS $3000ish
7.- Any clutch- Saves a couple pounds $500
8.- Any flywheel- saves a couple pounds $300
9.- Port matching- more power $1400 (head job)
10.- Cam timing- more power $550
1. Haltech with wide band is $1500
2. steering wheel $200-250, mount $80-400 depending on the mount
3. home made $50-250 depending on parts used
4. I was thinking full blown surge tank ($800 but could make alot cheaper) plus $300ish for a tank?
5. CCWs are $2400-2800 plus tires $1300 (295s)
6. Arn't they like $2200 plus all the extra stuff you gotta buy?
7. ACT pressure plate and stock disk plus bearing and everything cost more then $500
8. $240-400 depending on brand
9. I was thinking full head job with new valves and everything, overestimated that price...
10. BC2 is $535
Not sure how I completly was way off but ok. I know nothing and will go back to just reading this thread and not posting in it....
There's not really any weight savings available with roll bars and fuel cells.
To use a fuel cell, you have to have a GCR legal cage, which is obviously heavier than whatever weight you'd save on fuel/gas tank changes.
The stock roll bar allowance (that SP inherits) specifies that if stock roll over parts are removed, the resulting configuration is no lighter than stock.

I think I'm going to do what you did which is just leave that car as a track car and get a second car for autox. A BS CR or an AP2 for STR would be my first choice but without a second garage it's not an option. One thing I learned this year was how unimportant local wins are if you can't get it together in 3 runs at big events. I was only partially kidding about running a Mini in HS. We have a lot of really good drivers in HS regionally (Bruce Bellom, Tony Crea, Jeff Yatsko and Joe Austin) which could really help me improve as a driver.
Another but slightly more expensive option and still be fun would be to get a Cayman S for AS.
