Great to have you on board! What year chassis are you starting with?

Correct me if i am wrong. But there was two batches of the first gen Giken, The first batch has not had failures, but the second batch, well i think you may have had the last working one from the second batch. And then the second generation has held up nicely?
Me, and colin, and collett still have working first gens.
Agree on the keeping stock clutch, this experiment has been a great big fail

Colin's broke before Nats last year, IIRC.
Colin's ring gear bolt came out and chewed up everything if i remember right

Robert is correct. The OS Giken itself is fine. I had almost two full seasons on it and the ring bolts came loose and made a mess of everything. The OS Giken has since been inspected by OS Giken and by Ben (PuddyMod) and no problems were found with it. It is back in the car ready for more this year. Hoping it will be fine!

I am running a AP1. I am running KWV3 coilovers, Megan rear bumpsterr kit, Eibach front sway bar, AEM intake, CC stage 2 clutch with a 8 lb Fidanza flywheel, ricks header, 70mm test pipe, and 70mm Greddy Ti-C single exhaust. 245/255 Hankook R-S3's on Volk CE28's. I am a underprepped STR car as is. I picked up a set of 275 Kumho V710's for a steal and picked up another 2 AP2V1 rears that I will mount them onto for now. I am deploying in August and will decide for my next years set up over there and order parts. I might take out the soft top and do the CR brace with CR aero, and add a roll bar for tracking my car.

I was looking into a better seat. What seats are you guys running? I was thinking about the Recaro Pole Position but need something that I can drive for up to 5 hrs. I am 6' and have a 36" waist.

OSGiken warranty replaced my blown diff (Thanks to Jonathan Lugod for hooking me up). I wasn't told what went wrong with my diff but I had the first revision so maybe it's the same issue everyone else had. Either way, my replacement OSGiken diff is on its way already. Since I wasn't sure they were going to replace it, I had already ordered a ATS Carbon LSD Spec III that Brian Karwan at Karcepts put in one of my spare pumpkins. Jeff (minitoyota) put it on my car today and I'm in the process of breaking it in. Will be able to test it out in autox conditions in 2 weeks.

Update time

295 vs 285 sitting at the shop

new diff adjustment to help with lock timing, need to go slightly more aggressive with removing delay spring but its close now.
need to add a few percent of overall lock back also. Fresh 10.9 flared bearing cap bolts cleaned and torqued thanks to 3rAuto's engine / tranny rebuild room

what happens when james yom drives your car

Just joking, but the clutch did fail

Finally got a trailer! my short trip tow rig is complete.

I know i am bored when i start making stuff i don't need.

a few hours in the cnc, plus a few coats of paint and flat clear. new sparco steering wheel cap done!

Warming up the e85 / fuel rail on a 30 degree race morning in denver!

ugh, the day i had planned for a quick setup change.

And finally race day.

That's an insane amount of movement! Can you see on the bar where it's been contacting?

It contacts right below the main studs that go through the pin mounts bushings of the rear diff cradle.

Yea, thats where I figured. I'm curious if it's hitting hard enough to cause a problem, or if it's no big deal.
I've got mine spaced out and notched down, so I'd assume mine doesn't even come close to contacting.

That's crazy. Is that a stock rear bar? Maybe you need stiffer diff mounts? I have 75A Innovative diff mounts and that thing has so little play it's even hard to install the diff.
