I'm starting to wonder if a certain person is blocking anything that could help an s2k. All in all, we have made some valid arguments for allowances, clearly non-performance enhancing, yet still flat out rejected without any other consideration.

It's certainly starting to look that way. I'll see how much I want to proceed in BSP. Now that I caved in and ordered a trailer, the car no longer needs to be street legal so the options have opened up a lot now.

Is there a way to right your rule clarification or change in a car agnostic way and still be convincing enough? Taking the time to try might answer the question for you before you even have to ask it.

Trust me, it wasn't the wording of my letter. Writing is one of my strong sides. The bottom line is if they don't deem a proposal "necessary", they won't accept it. Example, why can't we run aftermarket hardtops (not even OEM style)...reply was "you don't need to run a hardtop to begin with". Why can't we cut a small hole in the bumper to terminate a brake duct you allow us to have anyway....reply was "it's not in the spirit of the rules". Really? We're allowed to cut up our dust shields to run brake ducts but not actually terminate the other end. Instead they want us to zip tie it into some random opening in the bumper. Some of the SCCA rules are just asinine. It won't stop me from competing but you'd think reasonable people can agree to reasonable rules. What's really ironic is that they won't allow these minor non-performance enhancing changes meanwhile there are sweeping proposals to change stock class. That's some bi-polar ish if you ask me.

Oh and let us run insanely wide grippy tires but no provision to improve reliability of our cars by say cryotreating our diff because that is not in the spirit of the rules and would cost money....right coz, the 2 fully prepped diffs I have right now in case something brakes were free? Eh whatever, not gonna rant, there's a place for people who like modding their cars and it's called SSM.

^This is why I have conteplated buying a shifter kart. I can use it for autocross, and try to race it locally. The tires are super cheap! Great seat time also.

I have mods that won't make me faster that bumped me into BSP, and I was underprepped for STR. But, it is all for the fun of it.

Agree!

Not that I "like" modding my car because of breaking stuff, but SSM is a dream I once had a while back when I first saw the pair of RX-7s. Eric and Andrew were like gods at my very first Nationals!

It's funny since my car is mostly maintained at Evans tuning, constantly surrounded by boosted S2000s it's been very tempting. What's held me back is NY State inspection which is no longer an issue if I take the car off the road. If you go SSM next year Marc, I may join you. There isn't much competition in BSP locally anyway especially with Mike trying to sell his car and I'm not too happy about this silly S2 paxed Prosolo class.

On top of that, Lee's M3 is likely to be shelved again after this year in favor of an EP AE86.

East of the Apps BSP will be all but dead. Hank hasn't run any events in his E36 and is also contemplating a sale.
