S2000 STR prep resource
Im at 4500, really didnt try any lower than that. I thought that I've seen some people have it as low as 4200.
Things learned so far this weekend:
1. Hankooks only work in sunlight and have the highest ultimate grip.
2. 245/40 hankooks work better than 255/40 kooks when temps are below 65F
3. R1Rs are the best rain / cold tire, but suck balls when temps get into the 80's
4. Dunlops are the best all around tire. They work cold and hot. However, in temps above 80 should be sprayed regularly. (hankooks still have better grip when it's hot outside).
5. If people around you in grid are swapping tires... You should also swap tires.
6. Robert Thorne and James Yom are phenomenal drivers.
7. I always make the wrong decisions.

Edit: Did it end up actually raining? I know it was wet in the morning
It was half dry and half wet for the first runs. 2nd runs were almost completely dry. 3rd runs were all dry.
I made the mistake of not even bringing my Hankooks to grid since the weather looked so bad. Then the sun came out of no where and it was HOT and I was caught with my Dunlops. I actaully came to grid on the Continentals since it was still wet. Walked the course one last time and put the Dunlops on. We tried to get the Hankooks on my car for the last run and couldn't get the hub centric ring off the LF hub so with the 5 car warning we had to throw the Dunlops back on the car and get them all torqued and pressures set in time. Car just wanted to oversteer a bit too much on my last run. Not sure if the Hankooks would've helped since I only would've had one run on them. So I am glad to be sitting where I am, just wish I was close enough to make a go of it tomorrow.
Very nice driving though by Yom.

Yeah, it definitely rained in Lincoln. See video from morning below. This was sent to me by someone else watching. Don't know how it is. I believe the 5th heat had the least rain, had some sprinkles near the end. I was listening on sololive.com (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/SCCASolo). If you have an iPhone you will need to down load a browser such as Skyfire which can play flash video.
Wet Run in Lincoln
I've been watching James Yom for a few years now out the San Diego Tours and El Toro Divisionals. Really nice guy, really fast driver no matter what car he jumps in.

Wow who is James Yom? That's in a odd year s2k also.
And I don't think the car year is much of a big deal, all are good.
We started out on Dunlops, I ran first. It was still wet on course. After the course walk between heats two and three, James and I decided to soften up the car to help with the lack of grip. We soften the bump, and turned the rebound down 1 turn from full stiff, disconnected the rear sway bar and set the saner on 3/4, 4 being stiffest. I came back and reported that it was indeed still wet in most places, but I though James could take good advantage of the first dry slalom. I got a 78 something. James runs next and does much better than I. He runs 73.5. For my second run we put the rebound up 1/2 turn, bump up a nudge. My second run was 74 something but I DNFed because of oversteer in the second slalom. Then I got a rerun, because of a timing issue on course. We connected the rear sway bar, then put the saner on full stiff 4/4 and set bump up to our normal setting and full rebound. We wanted to put the Hankooks on, but we only had 5 minutes to work on the car so we kept the Dunlops on. You should have seen us jumping around the car getting all this done. I ran a 74 again. When I got back we swap the tires to Hankooks for James, and he runs a 70.9, My run on Hankooks was another 74, I suck, but I like hot hankooks over dunlops on lincoln's surface. The car was pushing at sweeper exit so we nudged the bump up again. James runs a 69.943.
Here's a link of Jame's last and fastest run.
Enjoy!
P.S. Take a look at the type of car that won places 1-14.
I already asked tech and they said no courtesy weighs. My car weighs 2749 with 1/2 tank of gas. If you can find someone with scales I'm game.

I still have my trailer hitch on!
