Once you get to double adjustable you will wonder how you lived without it. For STR and all the experimenting required to get handling in the ball park, double adjustable shocks are really a must have IMO. Make that mono tube (AST, Penske, Moton, JRZ, Koni) double adjustable. Besides the awesome car control while autocrossing mono tube shocks make the daily driving or road driving tolerable considering what some of us have done to our cars.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that doubles are mandatory. I'm sure you'll get 95% there (or more) with singles.

Weighed my car this weekend. 2005 AP2 @ 2640lbs with 1/3 tank of Gas. I was a little disappointed with the #. This gets especially frustrating while taking into consideration that I have the lightest wheels available and one of the lightest coil-over sets available. I will never catch a CR curb weight *sigh*.

There are only two more modifications I can do which will reduce curb weight.

1. High Flow Cat
2. Lithium Battery

I'm guessing, but I think I can only shave away another 8-10lbs.

Also, had a course locally on Sunday that really made me feel the sting of a 8200 rpm redline… I had to shift to 3rd twice. In this case both shifts were right in the middle of slaloms. Needless to say, this was very frustrating. I’m praying that the new ECU rule set goes through so I can have that higher rev-limit. I would seriously trade any power I’ve picked up with header/ intake / tune for a higher rev-limit at this point…

Did you weight it same scale, same day with other S2000s? If not, I wouldn't worry. They are all close given the mods every single time I have weighed mine with other s2000s, same scales, same day. My weights have been all over the place looking back, even on the same scales at different times. I have posted about it before.

Mike, if I remember correctly you are running the K&N intake which in my mind is another place you can save some pounds. That heat shield is very heavy for what it is IMO. I am working on remaking it either out of ABS or carbon fiber.

This is a bit of a "me too..." The video below was from the May local event and it required two shifts to 3rd as well, but in an AP1. The overall course was about 0.9 miles and there were 12 shifts overall to get through it. One of those shifts down to first was questionable, at least the way it was done on this run.

Wow.... Look at that course. Holy moly. What kind of intake/header/exhaust are you running? I'm trying to get a picture of what makes that sound.

Thanks,
Matt

That is the stock exhaust cut just before the Y with a down pipe, the same mod that is typically done for BS. Maybe it's the fidelity of iPhone recording? I ran my regular camera as well and the sound is completely different (more typical).

Other Camera Video (Note the push in some corners, rear MX-5 bar was off)

The intake is a modified stock box as shown in the photo below. The plastic box is down to about 3 pounds. I have since moved on to the K&N intake.

The intake is a custom modified stock box as shown in the photo below. I have since moved on to the K&N intake.

Based upon what reasoning? I was going to start with a K&N filter in my stock airbox because I'm not excited about a hot-air intake.
