S2000 STR prep resource
It is nice that usually you don't have to actually change them, and don't have to bring them to local events, as opposed to stock class where you have to always change them.
That doesn't always work depending on the weather. The only event I tried Hankooks at locally I was using tire blankets and they wouldn't hold enough heat. Maybe with two drivers and tire blankets I guess. Wisconsin hasn't been very Hankook friendly this year. I am really hoping the weather works out this weekend since our test and tune is Saturday....

I don't know why someone has not mentioned this yet, but you can always just bring some form of insulation for the kooks.
Two drivers certainly helps. However, it's just amazing how these tires just "don't work" without enough heat. In Lincoln my car refused to turn into offsets. I was completely dumbfounded... because the car has never had a problem turning in... ever. I figured it had to be something that got messed up with my shock settings.... but nope. It was the kooks. They were too cold and would not grip. The car felt like garbage. Basically, if the temp is 80+ outside the tire will work fine. Hankooks are like plants... they need sun. It also doesn't hurt to talk to them once in awhile.
Yeah I just know for one of the divisionals we had down here. Altain's STR miata had 2 drivers + blankets and all of that combined into far more heat into the tires then I could manage. This was on a very abnormally cold TX spring day (temps in the 60s or so)
Yeah, I hate the Kooks when they are not HOT... and I love my Dunlops when they are cool. I hope to find that in Lincoln, it's cool and that that surface like Dunlops. Does anybody know how the surface at Lincoln gets along with Dunlops?
At the Lincoln Tour I was on Dunlops the first day. They felt ok on the surface, I just got my ass kicked by Hankooks. The weather changed so fast I didn't have my Hankooks in grid to change over. If it is a cool day though or we run first heat or something Dunlops might be the way to go.
not liking the idea of needing two sets of tires. I'll stick with my kooks and pick up a co-driver.
I don't know how anyone runs a soft front bar. Watching my videos from the weekend the car just transitioned so much better with 1 more click of bar then on day 1. Watching dave and mays videos there car transitions very fast with there setting although it's a trade off on front bite. how do people seriously drive a car with anything softer then the gendron hollow bar on full stiff setting?

I guess I just like my training wheels on

I also wanted to share that I damaged my first fender last weekend. I'd like to tell my self it happened during the big sweeper on day 2 while pulling 1.16 G's. I didn't notice it until I washed the car today. It's kind of hard to see but theres a small crease in the paint and the tire looks like it's seen better days. I was running 900lbs front springs and the bar on 2/6 or 3/6 on the gendron solid bar. Anything softer then that the car would really be eatting some fenders.
