One word...WEIGHT
What about weight?

But anyway, I think YOU might have a misunderstanding or torque and so forth. Torque applied generously down low (as in the 1.8T) allows said application an advantage over a high revving, torqueless motor. You don't produce any mentionable power until you are in VTEC. By which time I in my 1.8T have put some distance on you.
Reread what you posted. Here let me help you:

I love how these S2k guys give no credibility to torque. Considering the fact that if don't race from a standstill (drag), you'll get carlengths put on you in first gear alone.
If I understand your "argument" it's that your 1.8T is going to accelerate faster (from a stop) than an ITR or S2k because it has more torque. My reference to the M coupe is one of many possible demonstrations of just how wrong you are.

Despite having less torque the S2k manages to clamber along to 60 in under 6 seconds, meanwhile the 1.8T VW struggles to get into the low 7's. Odd how that works, but ... if we are to believe you this is not possible as you will put many lengths on us after launching. Mind you the 1.8's have a whopping 20lb/ft more torque. YAY!

Oh, but wait we aren't talking about stock GTI's because that's not a fair comparison (apperantly).

I see in your Gallery that you guys were down in Fishkill, N.Y about 3 weeks ago.
Who drives the platinum Grey S2k that had its ass handed to it by a Matchstick Red GTi 1.8T? Anyone wanna fess up to that one? You were with about 6 other guys about to get onto interstate 84 going to the Newburgh-Beacon bridge. I'll be glad to meet up with you again anytime if you are local!

Damir, who thinks a passat weighs 4,000 lbs, has no credibility because you obviously just pull whatever you can out of your ass to prove your points. Way to add 800 lbs onto a car. An S2k that traps below 95 has a poor driver. Once again....go back to your forums and find me a chipped 1.8t in south florida that will race both an ITR and an S2000. We'll video tape it and put the results. I would prefer racing for money, but I can understand why they'd be afraid.

Regarding the 1 in 100, again it is clear you have no experience with the ITR -- this makes your statements simply opinions. You can take your (elitest) attitude over to Honda-Tech and ask around in the ITR section should you wish to actually speak with some knowledge.

What I have learned from this thread so far.

1.8 T VW's never lose a race, if they do it's because they did not have enough modifications and the other car was cheating by having modifications.
The Type-R wasn't sold stock...the GSR was sold stock...the Type-R was a considered a special edition car...MODIFIED by the factory. They put more time tuning that car than most aftermarket tuners do.

What I have learned from this thread is exactly what you have learned but reversed. Type-R's can never lose a race, if it is because they are so hard to drive...and apparently no one knows how to launch them correctly yet they have these great times (LOL), they can also beat any car in it's league from a rolling start even though pushing down on the accelerator is a truly tough to do.

VW isn't my favourite car, and were I back in Europe I'd have been driving something else...but it'd still be comfortable, practical, and wouldn't make me feel I'm 16 years old. Unfortunately for you, I've driven a Type-R and been a few others...I'm no expert at driving the car but I can say I don't have the same whipped viewpoint you do of it.

These car vs. car pissing matches are always funny. I wish I could find an S2K to race, but not enough of them w/ superchargers or 75 shots that I've come across.

Contacted camuman. Coincidentally he lives within 5 miles of me and the ITR. Hopefully he's willing to go. His car has a couple things more than just a chip, but i'm willing. We'll get a nice vid of the race if it happens.
