Me vs SC'd prelude
While working today, I had seen a prelude drive by outside that I have seen several times before. I figured he must work somewhere nearby. A little later, he came by and parked out front of the store, and walked in. I started talking to him about his prelude, and we got talking to cars. I had told him I was interested in a little friendly race.
On my break, we headed out for a quick run. He has a 5th gen, stick shift lude. Jackson SC at 6psi, VAFC, exhaust, and upgraded fuel pump. Going from a dead stop, I knew that I would take him off the line.
We lined up at a stoplight and waited to go. Green light, and we're off. I got an OK launch, but I've had better. Through 1st gear I had him by about 2 lengths from the launch. Through 2nd he was pulling on me. By end of 3rd he was almost even with me, with his front bumper at about my wheels. However, 4th gear held him off barely as I shut down at 105.
He said he wanted to go again and go longer. He thought he might be able to take me on the top.
We lined up, and my launch was even worse than the 1st.... However, I had about 1-2 lengths on him through 1st. Through 2nd he pulled again. By 90mph he was about dead even, and MAYBE even inches ahead... 4th gear however, I shifted quickly as I could and held him off, even gaining about a foot.... once it got up higher though I started to pull. At 120, his front bumper was a little ahead of my door. Into 5th, and I kept pulling. by 135mph, he was about 1/2 length behind and falling back quickly.
I have always wondered how I would do against an SC'd lude.
Had we done a roll from about 45mph, he would have won, unless we had gone to really high speeds....
So, SC'd ludes are quick. Definitely good competition for an S2000. Had it been 8psi instead of 6psi, I think he'd certainly have me.

Sounds about right. With that setup, he's probably making 220-230 whp. But, he also weighs 150-250 lbs more. The 4th gear thing is all 6-spd vs 5-spd. He's got a bigger ratio drop there which hurts his thrust.
Tell him he needs a Hondata ECU. Another 20-30 hp and he might just take you :-)

I did happen to talk to the guy for a bit. I'm sure I'll run into him again. I have also heard of the Hondata ECU thing for those SC ludes working some magic... I will mention that if I see him again. (i also have a friend getting an SC for his lude, so I am sure he'll want to look into that as well)
