RX7 or S2000
LIKE I SAID....
I don't know what the fuss is about. The S2000 is a fun, convertible cruising car. The RX-7 is a fun, hard core sports car. They're very different, so comparing them so directly seems kind of odd.
A friend of mine who had a BPU Supra, sold it and got a S2000. He's only had for 2 months, and he's already getting rid of it. I like the car for cruising and fun factor, but it's not going to be anywhere near close a 400+HP BPU rx-7 or BPU Supra in terms of sheer performance.
And I agree that the whole thing on rx-7 reliability is way too exaggerated. Most of these cars were suffering from the slap on bolt on parts, bump up the boost syndrome. Owners weren't very knowledgeable on the cars before, and learned the hard way. However by now, most serious owners, pretty much know what to do and how to do it. Funny thing is, the BPU rx-7s that are making big horsepower 400+, are also the ones that are lasting the longest. Why? Because their owners are serious, and take the time to do such things as tune with a wide lambda O2.
Believe it or not, the vast majority of people still don't know what a wide lambda is, or understand the concept of air/fuel. These are the same people who go boom and wonder why.

You didn't say the Rotary in twin-turbo form as in the FD3S requires more care, you just said "rotaries require..." Well, that makes this discussion about all rotaries, not just 13B-REW.
I think you misunderstood me or maybe I just was not too clear. I think the thread is comparing the RX-7 TT (FD) to the S2000. The FD has a problem with OWNERS not knowing the engine requires more care due to the turbos. Therefore, engines are destroyed more than other cars. BUT this is not due to RELIABILITY!!
I THINK this thread is comparing the RX-7 TT and the S2000. If that is the case, then when I say **rotaries** I am only referring to the ones being compared namely the engine inside the RX-7 TT. As for the other **rotaries** yes I agree.
A N/A rotary is very long-lived
Seems like some folks got lost on their way to the RX-7 forum... S2000 is a cruising car? Gimme a break! It's as pure a sports car as you'll find, regardless of leather or CD players, even though it doesn't perform as well as the RX-7.
BTW, I had a BPU++ MkIV Supra before the S2000, and I like the S2000 more. Your preference will obviously depend on what traits you value more.

i love both cars and they're both definately sports cars, but rx7 is more all out hardcore sports car and it performs at supercar levels.
if i was driving a sc or even turboed s2000 and see a rx7 with a front mount on my rear view mirror, i would honestly be horrified.

Good grief. Comparing a street modded FD vs. a S/C S2000...really, give me a break. I'm not comparing modded cars, period.
I'll bet you'll be saying give me a break after you've raced a Supra. I wonder if he'll be breaking anything?
If your going to classify the modded S2000 vs. modded FD...please compare something equivalent.
