2006 S2000 or 2005 Lotus Elise
A Solstice? Right..... I'd rather get the new MX-5.
Back to topic: Performance wise, the Lotus is faster. It performs better on paper and as tested. But what does that mean? You'll have more fun? Not me. Both cars are exhilarating to drive. The fun factor is there for both cars.
I know you said that it'll only be a weekend car, but I'm sure you would like to take it on a weekend trip or perhaps use it as a daily driver on occasion. That being the case, the S2000 would be better suited for that task. It's got a little more luggage room and a few more comfort features. Repairs are cheaper. Plus, one little fender-bender in the Lotus, and you've got to replace about half of the body. $$$$$$
As far as styling, the Lotus is a good looking car. I just wish it was about 1/2 - 1 foot bigger all the way around. That thing looks and is TINY. Lookswise, both sitting next to each other, the S2000 does look a bit bland. For me, though, I prefer that. And even with the "bland" styling, I get compliments all the time, and after 7 years of production, people still ask what kind of a car it is.
But either way you go, you'll have fun.

I know Elise faster than S2K by the number show us from the magazine, but how come Elise can't pass AP2 on the straight from the track
but I saw Elise kissing the S2K's bumper every single turn though
Elise skidpad 1.03g

They're really not that much different in speed. I think Road & Track had the Elise 1 second faster per lap on the track, but that was with the sticky tires that come with the Elise track package. Slap some A048's on an S2000 and the two would be very similar.
