This is a very good thread. I decided when I bought my S2000 that I would do all services myself. Glad there are plenty of how-to's out there.

Isn't Amsoil very expensive. I hear from a local dealer its supposed to last for up to 25,000 miles without a change!

No. Amsoil is a few bucks more than everything else. No more than $2 or so.

i only have 14,700 miles on mine right now. so Im only half way there.
Well if your car is a 2001 with 14,700 miles, a standard warranty is still up on it, by about 2 years, unless you bought it within the last 3 years from the dealership. The basic warranty is 3 years/36K miles, whatever one comes first.

Oil changes on these cars are so simple it amazes me. You can actually do one without even jacking the car up if you wanted(although it is a little easier) I haven't tried any of the other changes yet, but probably will when the time comes.

I am starting to understand how time could be more valuable than the price charged for some stuff, but not yet on car stuff. I want it done right, and trusting some teenage kid or whoever that is rushing to get to a lunchbreak is not my idea of time saved. I have seen to many tradgedy stories of problems(some local that is scary) due to dealerships, so I choose to do it all myself.
